155hp on a D16A6

This is my eventual goal, and I don't think it's too unreasonable. Take the stock CRX engine, give it a little kick in the ass, and then enjoy driving something every day that has as much almost as much horsepower as a new civic si. Not to mention much cooler than your average civic.

Now, the question is this... Has anyone else ever gotten 155 from a stock engine? And how would I even go about it? Where to start?

I'm picking up my new shocks and springs from the tuning shop here in two weeks, so while I'm there I'm going to get a baseline dyno done and see what I have to work with. All that it has done thus far is a cold air intake and a set of DC sports headers, so the numbers should be dissapointing at best.

The condition of the engine is going to play a big factor. Alot of miles or if its been beat on will determine how much gain you can get.

Are you looking for 155 at the crank, or at the wheels?

Either way, some upgraded valve train parts and a new intake manifold will help you get there.
I think you and I are cut from the same cloth. I've been pondering a B20, but right now I'm leaning towards keeping the D16A6 and making a small monster out of it. I just bought an 8.4 lb forged flywheel and an ACT Xtreme pressure plate and modified street clutch. My Quaife LSD is on it's way. Here's what I have planned for the near future:

Possibly sleeve the block if I can afford it. Overbore the cylinders...get some Endyn/Wiseco Rollerwave pistons and Eagle Forged rods. Whether you go high compression or low compression on the pistons will depend on whether you want NA or Boost. In a perfect world, I would get a supercharger, but they are more expensive than my entire car.

I'm curious about the intake manifold options that would help with this project.
I will assume that you are talking what kind of mods to get a stock A6 block to 155 hp.
N/A:I have met a guy a N9 who was running 13:1 who claimed he had 160.
Is it possible yes,but a little green would be envolved.
Boosted:This is the route I'm going.
I am shooting for somewhere near 160 hp on a mini-me at 8 psi of boost.(A very conservative guess)
As soon as mine is done I will post some updates.
If you care to know(my setup)
1-d16a6 block/stock lower half
2-d16z6 head/exospeed s/s cams(good boosted cam)
3-td05h mitsu turbo/olliespeed intercooler and charge piping
4-Hondata 3bn E/management
5-stock trans(Si)
6-Clutch:still shopping
I have everything except #6.
All of this should be done in a few weeks.

Definitley 155 at the crank. And I was thinking going with a higher compression N/A, although I suppose bossting it would be an option. My entire goal is to have the car look as stock as possible, hence making something out of the stock engine. I've heard rumours that it has a lot of potential, but I've never met anyone who got any decent numbers out of it.

Ollie: I did meet a guy who had a turbo mini me, and he loved it. Congrats on a great setup.
we have a boosted mini me and it made 212 whp @ 10 psi.

boosting single cams is fun. My strung out NA z6 motor only made 161 whp.

ollie: good luck with that stock bottom end, i broke rods 2x on stockers.

also what the heck is hondata 3bn E, ive never heard of that?

I run a zdyne on my crx and a moates ostrick powered by uvberdata on my gsr.

also, 13:1 compression must be nuts, i dont know how you would do that adn run street gas, I had problems wiht detonation @ 12:1.

-This gives me hope. :D

-I dont plan on boosting past 7 or 8 on that stock bottom end,but thanks for the info(I need the feedback)

-lol Hondata 3bn is a older boost capable setup(a predecessor to the new 200 system),and the E/management is me just being lazy and not typing out engine management...sorry. lol

-I dunno thats what the guy claimed.
