Yeah there are a few in there that have been abused... I hate seeing a nice crx get in the hands of some kid or adult that "pimps" his ride. Just think how many mint/stock crx's go up for sale by the one-time owners. They sit in that person's yard for sale, usually a cheap decent price and they've been well maintained for all these years. Some kid who just watched the fast and the furious gets his parents to buy the car and then takes the almost immaculent crx to hell with his "modding".... =(
although i'm not against modding, riced-out crx's usually look like hell and only go downhill from there. i'm very happy with my stock crx, and all the history i know on it from carfax / talking with previous owner / paper records, and the car itself show that the only mod it probably ever had was a cold air intake ( a small part of the underbody shield in that corner has been cut out, car came with stock airbox / tube)
sometimes it is hard to tell what has been done, especially when you don't do your homework. a good friend of mine pulled up to my place a couple years ago with a nice silver-ish colored 2000 prelude. first thing I noticed was the ride height, looked low as hell. but no aftermarket suspension that I could tell. then he popped the hood, appeared stock but had a "sloppy" look to me, I could tell the parts like intake / cam gears / etc had been off and aftermarketed in the past, then converted back for a dealer trade-in. long story short the springs were stock but cut, and the car kept giving him problems (transmission, belt tensioner) and before he traded it in I looked it over again, and found some stray wiring under the steering wheel -- NOS in the past as well it seemed. so he took it to another dealer and they raped him on the trade in. lesson - don't buy a riced, or formerly hopped-up, car, you'll be sorry!
