lol yeah, there are a lot of body modifications that seem... very extreme? That's to say the least. At the same time there are some really good looking stock crxs. The site hasn't been updated in a long time but some of those rexs are mint.... some from europe too!

Funny you should mention that. That website is ancient. That post was probably made by the previous owner (possible car thief(?)). Much of what he says in the description of the car is BS. His exhaust was stock with a chrome plated tip (not stainless). The strut bars were just ebay-specials with neuspeed stickers on them (not actual neuspeed). The only good thing that came out of me buying the car was that I got to save this special edition CRX from further abuse.

Maybe some day I'll do up a DX or an HF like the Mugen CRX again...however, for now, my main focus is on restoring the Special Edition.

That's a pic of it before I owned it. That picture was heavily touched-up. The car never looked nearly that nice until I got my hands on it and started fixing it up. However, as soon as I found out it was a special edition that had been repainted white (because it was stolen...possibly by the previous owner), I stopped what I was doing and started working towards a full restoration and obtaining the legitimate registration for it.

Yeah there are a few in there that have been abused... I hate seeing a nice crx get in the hands of some kid or adult that "pimps" his ride. Just think how many mint/stock crx's go up for sale by the one-time owners. They sit in that person's yard for sale, usually a cheap decent price and they've been well maintained for all these years. Some kid who just watched the fast and the furious gets his parents to buy the car and then takes the almost immaculent crx to hell with his "modding".... =(

although i'm not against modding, riced-out crx's usually look like hell and only go downhill from there. i'm very happy with my stock crx, and all the history i know on it from carfax / talking with previous owner / paper records, and the car itself show that the only mod it probably ever had was a cold air intake ( a small part of the underbody shield in that corner has been cut out, car came with stock airbox / tube)

sometimes it is hard to tell what has been done, especially when you don't do your homework. a good friend of mine pulled up to my place a couple years ago with a nice silver-ish colored 2000 prelude. first thing I noticed was the ride height, looked low as hell. but no aftermarket suspension that I could tell. then he popped the hood, appeared stock but had a "sloppy" look to me, I could tell the parts like intake / cam gears / etc had been off and aftermarketed in the past, then converted back for a dealer trade-in. long story short the springs were stock but cut, and the car kept giving him problems (transmission, belt tensioner) and before he traded it in I looked it over again, and found some stray wiring under the steering wheel -- NOS in the past as well it seemed. so he took it to another dealer and they raped him on the trade in. lesson - don't buy a riced, or formerly hopped-up, car, you'll be sorry!

Ditto, be wary is what i always say. I'm not against modding one bit, I like it when it looks clean. But I am also a sucker for a mint stock crx. Or even just a crx that has been maintained well. mmmmmmmm
