I almost passed out a Community business card but then when I saw all the abuse that the drive had heaped onto a poor HF, I couldn't do it. I know, I am prejudging him, but I just wasn't sure that I wanted him in the Community.

I see almost no rexes. Maybe one a month around here. And then they end up looking like they should be put out of their misery.

I can totally understand that situation... However. that is probably the biggest reason to send somebody like that here.. so they can learn!

I find that alot of the reason we as "import" drivers get such a bad rap, is because alot of the "others" who are out and about dont have the first clue as to how the car actually works.. or how to fix anything to begin with..

I tell alot of folks about this site.. some may show, most probably wont.. but in the end.. if we can save one ignorant "ricer" from himself... then it will be worth it..

later

I've put a few on cars, not given to actual people. I keep most of them in my car, and a few in my jacket in case I see one in a parking lot, just slip it under the wiper. There are 3 CRXs in Troy that I used to see all the time, until the day I got the cards, now I don't see any. One is a red DX owned by one of the waitresses at my favourite pub, I haven't been there recently, but she often sits and talks to me about how much she loves her car. I actually have a pic somewhere of both our CRX's sharing one parking spot on the street!

How about a pic of the waitress, too?

It's sometimes tempting to hope that someone will "come around" and fix their car up...but sometimes you have to decide whether or not handing out a business card is going to be like flogging a dead horse. Better to save the card for someone who at least demonstrates a bit of care and/or enthusiasm for the car.

I think if anyone on here saw my car, they might consider it "not worth" a card. I have dents and rust all over the car, but it's not because I don't love it, it's because I can't afford the body work, or more because the money I do have for the car goes to other things. Don't discriminate, they aren't making new CRXs, even if 1 in 10 people sees the card and wants to fix their car, you still saved 1 more CRX. If they have the huge bodykit and aluminium wing, well they probably like their car a lot too, and maybe we can help them out a little by pointing them in the right direction.
I know a lot of guys come to the school autocross the first time with some ricer stuff, thinking they are fast, and then get beat by more stock-looking (or beat up) cars they probably didn't think much of. The next time they show up, they change their attitude (and car) a lot. One thing I try to do to advertise for the autocrosses at school is put flyers on the "riced out" cars, since the owners clearly think they have something nice.

There is a shopping center here in town where the comic book shop is I go to (yes I'm 40 yrs old and still read comics ), but the last two times I've gone there I have seen two Rex's! Each time two different ones. The last time a red one and yellow. I went to put a card on the 88 Y49 when the driver walked up. Nice guy named Ron, we talked a while he's the same as me, will never get rid of his Rex! He also has a 91 red SI he's looking to sell, a little rust dented fender and a smokey motor he wants $500 for it and if I was'nt unemployed right now I would buy it my self.
