Scroll slow as to not go too far and spoil it for yourself. No, this isn't one of them "turn your speakers all the way up and concentrate" things. It's just a test to see if your mind is ordinary or extraoardinary. You will be amazed. If you are not, then you are amazing.

ALZHEIMERS' EYE TEST
Count every " F" in the following text:
FINISHED FILES ARE THE RE
SULT OF YEARS OF SCIENTI
FIC STUDY COMBINED WITH
THE EXPERIENCE OF YEARS...
(SEE BELOW)
HOW MANY ?
WRONG, THERE ARE 6 -- no joke.
READ IT AGAIN ! Really, go Back and Try to find the 6 F's before you scroll down.

The reasoning behind is further down.
The brain cannot process "OF".
Incredible or what? Go back and look again!!
Anyone who counts all 6 "F's" on the first go is a genius.
Odd.. I counted six the first time. Took about four seconds. Guess I *can* process "of". Or I'm a genius. A crazy, evil-laughing, mad-scientist-type genius (rubs hands together and leers archly)...
By the way, I also count 9 i's, 4 n's, 7 s's, 4 h's, 14 e's, and 3 d's. That's just counting the letters used in the first word as they repeat through the excerpt.
Remindes me of writing a paper in college back when we had typewriters that just beeped when they detected a misspelling. It couldn't tell me how I had spelled it wrong, just that I had.
At 4:00 AM, I stumbled on that same word; (ding) went the typewritter. I looked at it, thought about it. Erased it (eraser ribbon built in). retyped it:
ov (ding)
erase erase
Ov (ding)
erase erase
uv? (ding)
erase erase
OK, get out the stupid dictionary. Nope, I can't find "ov" there, neither can I find the word "uv". GAAAA! How do you spell the F&*$ WORD "OF"! I eventually grabbed a novel of the shelf and sarted looking for and instance of "of".
I finally found it after 30 minutes OF searching. I typed those two letters (no ding this time) and immediatly went to bed, realizing I was allowing an incompetent moron to type my paper right then.
Its not that the brain can't process it, its just that most people 'process' visually with sound... they say the words in their head, and mark off the 'f' sounds in their head as they move along... you don't say "off", so you don't hear an 'f'... you hear a 'v'.
You'll usually count 6 if you take it letter for letter instead of trying to read it as you look for the letters.
