I don't want to sound mean or anything but that's what you get for not wearing your seatbelt!
"That's what you get?" The semi pulled out in front of the CRX. Granted, he would have been better off with a seatbelt on...but it wasn't like anybody in the CRX deserved to get hurt or die. It's not like they were street racing.

Well... you run a greater risk of death without a seatbelt. It's fair to say that they didn't know they were going to be in an accident until it was too late. But that's the case in most accidents. Thus it's a good idea to put on your seatbelt in any situation where there's a possibility of getting in an accident. It's not like they are freak occurances.

I just think this shows the necessity of wearing seatbelts. Sometimes i forget, but i try to ALWAYS have my seatbelt on... cause its there for a reason, its for MY safety... why would I be foolish enough not to use it.

I only wear my belt when i get on the interstate :( thats just because i saw a wreck a year ago where it was like nascar. This lady on the other side of the interstate was going about 80 when she fell asleep driving across a grass median onto head on traffic hitting a car about 15 car lenghts ahead compleletly destroying both cars. I mean i saw a freaking tire fly about 60 feet up into the air. Both cars flipping and rolling i mean the first thing it reminded me of was nascar. Fluids went everywhere. Well it all cleared down like 5 secs later you see a lady with her BELT on hanging out here now broken drivers window lifeless. I know for a fact that she passed away but i believe they both did two girls. Well we didnt have to fill a report since there was about 5 other cars that saw it 2 so they just let us do a u'ie on the interstate and take the previous exit and we kept on going.

So just make sure you wear a belt on the interstate. And JKG is right a majority of the kids these days dont wear belts because its freakin cool 8) .

I don't see how any crx owner can not wear a seatbelt. I know that i drive my car agressively and i need something to keep me planted in the seat. In fact, after i get done with some other mechanical mods to the car i think i may look into putting abasic bar in it and mounting up some 4 point harnesses. As it is i'm always trying to get the seatbelt to lock down and then i move the seat forward a bit to keep it locked. Feels better when i don't have to worry about sliding around in the seat.

Sounds like you're one of them. You don't think that a 40 mph crash will hurt you? How about head on at 40? Thats like hitting a wall at 80....
I am scared of injuries (minor and major) and I wear my seat belt ALL the time.

Who cares. Seriously.

We need organ donors. In fact, taillights are a really popular swap item too. You don't happen to drive a 1990 crx right? It's headlights we should be worried about.

Not wearing seatbelts is darwin at work at it's purest form.
The strong survive. The steering wheel is made of metal, and the windshield of laminated glass. Guess who wins?

honestly it doesnt feel right driving without your seatbelt on... kinda feels like you're naked if you're not.

even though my seatbelts are mounted to my doors and have the potential to pull me outta the car if the doors ever pop out in an accident.

This is also an interesting topic when it comes to motorcycle helmets. Personally, riding in a car, I always wear my seatbeat. Riding a dirt bike or motorcycle, I always wear a helmet. I can say for sure that the only reason why I always wear them is because of family and friends hurt/kiled by not doing so.

Other people may not have had those experiences, so they only see belts/helmets as a nuisance. But, why is it that in the USA, seat belts laws are prevalent but not helmet laws? It doesn't make sense to me.

Driving or riding anything without proper safety devices being used is probably by far one of the most stupid things that anyone could ever do. If you get hurt, or die from not using them when they are there, well then i think that you deserve whatever injury you wind up with. They are there for a reason, and PROVEN to work and help you LIVE... what possible thought process can make you NOT want to use them at ALL times?

Indian Larry was travelling at like less than 5-10mph or something when he fell and smacked his head on the ground because he was tempting fate with no helmet on. Yes, he did blatantly accept his fate if he were to fall, and that is well documented... and IMHO, stupid. But whatever... if he had been wearing a simple "brain bucket" (which, by the way, no one would have thought him to be a coward for wearing), he'd still be alive... hell, people would have PRAISED him more i'm sure if he had taken the spill and lived because of a helmet... no one would of thought it was dumb to wear the helmet then...

I've been in car accidents that were VERY painful at less than 15mph. Heck, my GF just got rearended in her car yesterday morning, and the guy was going less than 5mph, and she had to go to the ER for back and neck trauma. The dude who hit her apparently had a nice big red mark on his forehead, and a VERY stiff neck issue from his head smacking the steering wheel because he wasn't wearing a belt. Hit it just right, and that could have been WAY worse (like "broken neck" worse). But if he was wearing a belt, he wouldn't have looked like he just got whooped with a dildo across the face...

Anyway, no need to beat a dead horse here i guess, but really... do you honestly think that its cooler to not wear a belt or helmet?

I guess i'm just weird, but I cannot comfortably sit in a car without wearing a seatbelt... even when i'm just sitting there parked. Dunno why, but i guess i've just trained myself to be like that. Yes, even while parked in front of a someplace waiting for someone, i'll wear the belt... its a habit. I have the same issue with motorcycles or my Race Kart... i HAVE to have the helmet, and on the Kart, i have to have the helmet and neck guard, or i just feel WAY out of place.

I guess it takes all kinds to make the world go 'round i suppose, but negligence is something that really annoys me
