I watch pinks from time to time. I don't think a honda has ever won on the show, which sucks. A crx vs. a bug sounds really interesting. I would really like to see a honda(especially a crx) win on that show, to save face for the honda camp. I just wish they would pair a honda up with another fwd car. It hasn't happened yet, and I'm starting to wonder if it ever will. My buddy has a bug, with a built 2.5L, all motor. The car routinely beats turbo honda's. I hate to say it, but I think that crx is gonna get smoked.

He's assuming due to the fact that bugs have the potential to go quicker in a straight line.

It's that same mentality that the damned "ignorant" domestic V8 heads have about hondas. "I've got a v8 so I am faster!!!!!!!!!" Me -> "yeah, big deal it came like that from the factory so yeah its faster, DUH, here's a frigging cookie, better yet, take my bag or oreos"
So with that being said, I'd give any argument like that to anyone if they were talking about a factory/stock race; but since this is a modified race, then it's up for grabs. I think that's what makes the sport so interesting; you never know until the race is over. Ignorance is bliss for some people.
Oh yeah, I love V8's and give respect where it's due. I wasn't talking about all V8 heads. You know what type of people I'm talking about. "They" aren't just V8 heads; they are those type of people who are just as ignorant regarding their imports.

and yet you can put a V8 in a CRX with enough money.
i dont watch the show regularly either, but ive seen two hondas lose on it. american show, geared to an american audience... maybe Ford and GM are shareholders and want to try and bolster the market for their cars... if hondas win on the show, who would go and buy a stang or the new charger? theres a dumb assumption for you
TV is an amazing marketing tool though.
VW bugs have been around longer than civics, and the choices for aftermarket parts for them is very broad. there have been extremely fast civics AND bugs...
so, my point is: watch the damn episode and find out

When I saw the previews for the season finale I saw a 92-96 Civic VS the Bug. So this may be all to naught. Also the Bug looked like a funny car/pro-stock kinda thing. Also the show is open for anyone with a fast car who doesn't mind "losing" it. There has been a variety of cars. Yes a lot of muscle cars, but those are the people more into drag racing. At least everytime I go to the track and or see it on ESPN. The ratio of imprt - domestic has been about on par with reality. IMO. (which doesnt' mean a thing!)

I was taking a GUESS at the result of the race. Yes, I do think bugs have more potential to go fast in a straight line, and no, that's not an ignorant attitude. I've seen plenty of honda's and vw bugs race, and I know what can be done as far as modifying these vehicles

Everyone knows there are 9 sec or less crx's out there, its what does the OTHER guy think you have and what you think HE has so you can negotiate for handicap.

I though I read somewhere that the bug was twice the car the CRX was and they basically ended up running the CRX starting at the 1/8th mile mark. Then I thought there was something about the Bug wrecking. I though they were talking about this upcoming episode I guess we will see.

Um hello! Its a Bug vs a CRX the CRX ends up winning when the Bug breaks and goes towards the wall. The Bug has so much more power the CRX ends up starting at the 1/8th mile. Why wait to watch when you got me! The internet is a bad place!daveb91 said:
