i just bought a mixer off ebay, i go to turn it on and it turns right back off immediately, i looked on the board next to the power adapter plug and it looks like i have a blown cap would this cause this problem or do you think there is anything else i should check out? also what information do i need to look for on the capacitor to get a replacement?

Just get the Farad capacity and voltage, and you should be able to find one at Radioshack or, just look it up on the net

Make sure that's the only thing damaged though
