bad luck... THE CURSE!

okay, so i'm set back about a hundred bucks and god knows what else... someone went into my garage and stole my friggin tools... full set... down the tubes. At least they weren't expensive... and at least i had a few sockets and crap in my car at the time (they moved quick and didn't care what they grabbed). I replaced the lock on my door, and now i have to fix the garage panel that had been opened up (probably with a foot).

Anyone have some creative ideas to catch a thief (incase they come back)

I had an idea to hook up a motion sensor to a tape recording of a foaming at the mouth guard dog... you know with the sounds of chains draggin etc... i thought that'd be funny to catch on camera.

Like I said before.
Chair, blanket, porch light, shotgun.
I 2nd that motion. Its cheaper too. (as long as you have the gun...)
auto on/motion sensor camera mounted inside the garage 9along hte back wall) facing the door so you can catch thier faces if they come back.
what about... putting down nails in boards everywhere... and removing the light bulb from the garage

x10.com has some simple and relatively cheap security systems and wireless camera rigs (be aware that the latter run in the 2.4 GHz junk band, so if you have a 2.4 GHz phone, you may get beating in the picture). The security systems are easy to set up--basic kit comes with some door/window sensors a motion sensor, and a wireless key fob and control module to turn the system on and off. Makes a loud noise and flashes light. The web site sucks tho.

If you want something cheaper, I found a really simple motion sensor alarm at lowest--four buttons, you encode a key, and use that to arm and disarm.

that last option sounds good... but sucks because i have 3 other people in my house that regularly go in the garage.
Take a light that is motion sensor. Take the bulbs out, screw in a power outlet in to the bulb socket, run a core from it to a radio in your room. Turn the radio on wide open, once someone walks passed it to the door it will turn on, instead of the light coming out it will turn the radio on and run out and catch them. Make sure you take the other bulb out if it a 2 light unit. You can also just buy a motion sensor light switch and run it threw that, same idea either way just look cleaner.

The one I had on my other car was a horse electical fence. Hooked it to another alarm and it armed my car with a electrical fence, meaning you touch it it's like getting shocked. Be very careful where you set that if you have one or decide to put one on.
