So I did a quick search to see if there was much discussion about this and I couldn't find any. So I have going to replace the fuel pump in my 88 Si due to being inexperienced and somehow breaking the original when I reinstalled it. So now im crusing Rock auto to find a replacement and i see two types. one with a pigtail connector, and one with positive and negative terminals.

US Motor Works USEP8023
This one has no connector and just screw terminals.

DELPHI FE0486
Same as the usmw, does not come with sock

CARTER P90012
This one looks like the OEM one

I've recieved parts from USMW and there tech support is okayish. The rep needs more info available to them. had to wait weeks before getting an answer to the color wire they use for ground and I actually figured it out with the help of this site.

What are your opinions on these brands? Do you prefer the terminals, or the connector? Why is the USMW so wide?

What ever you pick make sure it's a reputable place, ideally local or nationwide chain if you plan on driving outside your city/state.

If the part breaks, what ever you save online will bite you in the back with both shipping charges. Towards warranty and back to you.

I personally avoid Rock Auto like the plague, I was sent the cheapest parts inside more expensive ones box. I can't say it will happen to you. Just saying what happened to me.

And of course they will take them back at my expense. I purchased the same parts locally and no problem so far( knock on wood). It's been a few years now. The ones from Rock auto did not even made it 10 months installed.

I've never had an issue with them, but all I ever have needed to buy was pads and coated rotors for the daily drivers.

For a fuel pump, I would definitely stick with a brand from nationwide chain store, just in case you need one off the shelf right quick.

Just installed the US Motor Works one on my 89 si 2 weeks ago. works great so far and was very easy install. Came with new strainer and everything I believe.

Also I think Oreilly's was like $200 whereas rock auto was like $30.
that is the exact reason why I decided to buy from them,
ohh well, live and learn I guess.

as I said before, I am not saying it will happen to anyone else.
but that was reason enough for me to never trust them again.
