Can you have 2 stereos?

Does anyone know how to wire up 2 stereos in the CRX? I have a Sony Xplod right now, which I like a lot, but it's a CD player/radio and I want to use my mp3 player. It has an auxillary port that takes RCA cables for a MD changer, but to use it the stereo requires a controller cable (Sony Proprietary) to let the head talk to the MD unit. Even if I had the cable, I don't think it would work. I looked into it a while back, but couldn't find anything. Anyway, so I still have a stock Acura stereo that came with my car, which is a tape deck. I can use my mp3 player with that using a casette adapter. I'm sick of carrying 20 CDs around all the time, I'm going to switch to the Acura deck this week and see how I like it. What I would really like to do is keep the Sony in there, and then mount the Acura deck behind the console with the wire coming out for my mp3 player, and have some kind of switch between them. Anybody know how to do this?

it can be done you would have to splice the wires from the sony deck into your stock harness. and keep the stock harness pluged into your acura deck. just keep the power off on one deck at a time.
I had to splice the Sony deck into an adapter harness I bought when I installed it, which has the Honda plug to fit into the stock harness. So, I need to take that out, desolder the sony one from the adapter, and splice it into the stock harness? So basically everything coming from the car is split between the two, and I would make the power one on a switch so it's one or the other?
if you want to run a stock deck then yes you'll have to take the sony harness off the adapter harness because you'll need the stock harness to plug into the stock deck, you 'll have to splice the sony harness into the stock wiring, so that why you can run the two radios.

are you sure you want to run the two decks? IMO you'll be better off just using the sony
Check around a little. I had a Sony deck a little while back... They sold an aux in adapter for it that uses the CD/MD changer port like you described. It would give you RCA jacks which you would simply plug a headphone plug to RCA adapter into. My current JVC deck is set up like that.
It has the RCA jacks already, and I have a few RCA-mini jack adaptors. I looked around a lot a couple months ago, but I couldn't find anything so I just burned more CDs for the car. I don't really want to run two players, I'm going to put the stock one back in this week and use that for a while. I also think the stock deck is nice because it's less likely to be stolen.
I looked at the box, my CD player is a CDX-M610, it's about 7 years old I think. My mum had it in her old car, when she got her new one (same week I got my CRX), she gave it to me.
woah woah woah get a mp3 player with extensive memory e.g ipod add an fm modulator from wallmart cost bout 10 bucks and bam!!!
I bet you can find an aux in for your acura HU here:

I think that is what you were asking for sort of.
id say just upgrade your deck i have a sony thats atleast 3 years old and i have the aux in plug right in the front, you def dont want to splice the 2 together cuz itll burn one or the other out, its hard to explain but think of it like this, when ones got power going to the speakers its also pushin power to the over deck so in reality itll mess it all up. got wat im say?

That depends on the internal construction of each head unit.
Wow, this was OVER three years ago... I no longer have that setup.

Didn't even notice; saw it was at the top and started typing haha.
Damnit... my necro skills just went up.
i know this is old but it can be done. ud just need a relay to switch the power from one unit to the other to prevent them both being played at the same time

Or, depending on the size of your MP3 collection, a USB-powered portable HD would work as well.
