I was at the AJC Auto Show a few weeks ago and snapped a few pics of the Civic Si concept. They wouldn't let you get anywhere near it, and they certainly wouldn't let you look inside. "The inside isn't finished yet."

All windows, including the windshield were tinted with 20% film, so you could not make out any details of the inside. I could tell there was a steering wheel and seats, and that's about it.

Thats the first Civic Coupe redesign I've liked since the 93-95 models. They had pleasing sporty lines in their first incarnation and gradually got more and more like a 2 door sedan (read: boxy) after that. The front-end on the current production models is an improvement, like the previous Accord coupes (before it got Chrysler'd) but its still too boxy.

Saw a Scion tC a few months ago and figured Toyota would be scooping the market with that design, but the more that I compare it to the new Coupe concept, the tC's starting to look a little too blunt and Hyundai to me.

Very Acura looking front-end and other than the FF spoiler not bad in the back. Eager to see what makes it into production.

This is going to fill the hole when the RSX is discontinued, I hear ... ?

Hmmm...not sure what I think about that...other than it reminds me of AUDI from the side angle.

Actually, I spent a lot of time sitting and playing in one of those at the show too. I was really impressed. Very comfortable, nice dual moonroofs, the stick felt great, decent sound system. And it really is a sweet design. Overall I liked it a lot. I wish it were a Honda.

from what ive heard it will have a "new" engine that puts out 200hp. and from what ive heard the rsx isnt going anywhere for a while. but if the civic puts out 200hp the rsx will have to step it up some.

Hmm. With a reinvigorated coupe design, maybe its time the hatchback is reconsidered, say in ... oh, I don't know ... in a two-seater fastback configuration. Shave off several hundred pounds by shortening the wheel-base. Maybe give it a TLA for a name?
