Yup, you can do that. It won't be perfect, but it should be quite passable. You won't get quite the same shine as with clear coat (the color coat is not meant to be really shiny), but it should polish up alright.

my 91 rex is black, and the paint is starting to snow flake on me, was wondering if i can wet sand it then buff it? need advice, thank you
