SO I'm aware that this is probably just "ricer" moment that i am having in my head. but i was looking at these: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... AMEWA%3AIT

I thought they might look good with the appropriate colored bulbs inside. I put some clear type front corner lenses on my car (they have stock type lenses not the ugly weird looking ebay ones) with amber bulbs and it looks kinda nice because during the day they are clear but at night they look like normal amber. I thought maybe it would be good to keep the motif going all the way around.
Thoughts? Pictures? Flames?
All are welcome.

You can see pictures of my car in the gallery if you want to give me advice or shoot the idea down.

for opinion on looks -- clear taillights look like crud unless you have a white colored vehicle, and even then they look bad.

they will get condensation in them and/or leak because they are aftermarket crud built to aftermarket low standards.

like rex2nr said, the output is low, so your risk of accident is high. I mean come on, half the idiots on the road don't even see stock red tail lights.

other than that, to each his own, if you like them, go for it. just think about it for a little while, the feeling may pass and you'll have saved yourself some money and install time.

i honestly dont even see why people get rear ended when you have poor tail lights

the person who is gonna rear end you should have head lights on and see you

but hey i guess its different for some people

paint the maroon trim around the lights black...

look at my car's bum shot, not the best of pics... but you get the idea

http://crxcommunity.com/viewtopic.php?t=2779

i masked the important parts, cleaned the trim with brake cleaner... roughed it up a bit with fine grain sandpaper, then sprayed two thin coats of flat "bumper black" i think it is a tremclad product.

i think it goes well with the rest of the black trim around the car... but my lights are in shoddy shape, and need replacing. i would definitely do it again when and if i get newer and not so cracked lights. takes an afternoon, and you get a chance to replace the rubber gasket that lets water in to your trunk through the tail lights!

Hmmm, good advice form everyone. I'm prob not going to buy these. Seems like a big gable for 120 dollar investment.

Stavros, i have to respectfully disagree with you regarding the black paint on the taillights. I think it makes them look funny and smaller. Like why is that big black rim there? I would consider painting that trim area the body color of the car perhaps. I'd have to see it first.

Me, i like the Altezza taillights. It seems like all of you hate them, but i like them.

If you can give me a reason other then you hate them, maybe i'll change my mined. Not to mention, clear would look really bad on a black car.

I like altezza on some cars. However, if you clicked the link in the original post, you'd see those tails pictured are the "white" colored clear tails where none of it appears red or amber except the glow from the bulbs themselves. True altezzas with separate bulb lenses covered by a transparent section look downright sexy on certain models/colors.

Personally I dont like altezzas.
I know its all a matter of personal preference, but If you must put altezzas on your car please stay away from APC.
I bought a set of orange corners for my DD EG hatch and they leaked 2 weeks after I mounted them. Not to mention the horrible fit.
Let me warn you now....THEY WILL LEAK!
I dont know why APC cant keep em from leaking after all these years. You would think that they would seal them better by now.

GL....

First, they are apc, which i guess isn't that respectable. Second, the aren't white, they are clear. At night, a red bulb in a clear lens will look quite vibrantly red. My clear corners have amber bulbs and they are as brightly amber if not brighter than the stock lenses. Third, if you looked at the link i posted for homemadeturbo, he explains that you need to do some extra sealing and then they won't leak.

Still though, I think you are right ollie. For over 100 dollars, I expect a part to mot be shoddy and leak. Oh well. ""shrug**

I really just want to be given a pair to put in and see how they look first, but that isn't going to happen. And I can't seem to find any pictures with them installed on a rio red crx either. Lots with the altezza styles, but I don't like their funky shapes and schemes, reminds me too much of a crazy body kit theme in the taillights.

Seriously, I was following a guy with them... I the brake lights looked pink, the turn signals yellow, you could barely tell when either came on. Even if they did look ok on the car, I would still be afraid of getting rear ended.
