I had this guy offer to sell me this little toyota for really cheap... I took down the VIN for a carfax.. but something doesnt seem right... I was wondering if Mark could maybe run this VIN? or can you only run plates? I can probably get the plate number... got the vin, didnt think about the plates?? Doh!

anyways.. it had Cali plates, and i think there is something up with this car..

here is the VIN# J T 2 E L 4 3 A 7 N O <(maybe zero) 1 7 8 9 4 3

its a little toyota tercel by the way..

I hate to threadjack, but I also need a CARFAX done as well. So, if someone has a carfax account, could you also please run this:

It's a cute pink 91 CRX Si that I'm curious about. (not for me)

I know a couple things about VIN's in general so here's what I can tell you:

JT2 - Passenger car built in Japan by Toyota.

EL4 - Tercel

3 - manual trans.

A - options or build package.

7 - check digit

N - 1992

0 - the eleventh digit is usually a letter indicating the factory the vehicle was manufactured at. A google search turned up a page indicating that an "O" in this spot means Supra plants, but US VIN law says that VIN's cannot contain any of the letters O, I, or Q.

178943 - serial number.
