Well today I went to pick up an 88 CRX HF that I now own, apparently. Long story....more latere. But the fuel pump is bad, and when I lifted out the fuel level thing under the cargo area and looked in the gas tank it was pretty nasty...either car has been sitting for a LONG time or somebody put sugar in the tank...Both which are possible.

So my question is, since advance and autozone list the same part number for the gas tanks of all CRXs,(HO5) should I get the original gas tank cleaned, put a new pump in and go or should I just get a new gas tank from either advance or autozone.

Id rather just replace the tank but I'd also like to stick to the original HF size gas tank.

Laterz, Im gonna be out maybe ofr the next few days...

Also...I do have the option of dropping the gas tank of my minty 90si parts
car....as long as its not bent up which I dont think it will is.

But I was under the impression that your really not supposed to reuse fuel pumps...

Im out...

Well the parts car only has 112k on it and ALOT of stuff had been replaced before it was wrecked. I mean new dizzy, plugs wires, brakes...etc

Ill eventualy be replacing the pump again anyway, but I really need this car going so Ill probably just drop the one out of the parts car for now. Pending its not got a huge dent in it or something. The parts car does run fine...not right now as Ive stripped alot from it but I did back it up into the shed its in.

Im just wanting to make sure the tanks are all the same between models, I thought the HF had a smaller tank but I dont think it really matters.

And I'd rather not cut a hole in the floor its an almost rust free car that I would like to stay that way lol...cutting holes makes more chances of rust.

...eehh The parts car has a full tank of gas....Aww man... :x

It's a pain in the ass...just be careful with the fuel lines and take your time. Try to get out as much gas as you can...I made the mistake of thinking having gas in there wouldn't be too big of a deal...and I ended up laying in it for about 45 minutes. I was high for days.

Well to update, the tank in the parts car has a huge dent near the middle...

So I think I just going to get a new tank and I might go ahead and get a walbro 255 pump off ebay as well to go ahead and get that in. So I dont have to fool with it down the road.

And yeah from looking at the haynes and looking under the parts car I can see how its gonna be a pain in the ass...

Just to double check, Im not going to run into any problems running a walbro 255 in a stock HF, am I? I mean, the Walbro is actualy cheaper than a stock replacement. Im only wanting to put it in so I dont have to worry about it down the road. But if its going to be a problem then Ill just put in a stock replacement.

But it getting a new tank....Thats a definite.

I searched a bit and really cant get a sure answer....
