Hi
Might be a stupid question but is the 1990 crx VT and crx jdm sir 1990 have interchangeable climate control unit, especially with wiring

Before I commit to buying just want to make sure it's all good

If they don't look the same physically, they will not work.
I think the VT model is the same as our US models, where it is all mechanical, where the JDM version has the wonky "Auto AirCon' function, so it's a bit more electrical.
So no, they are not interchangeable, in order to use the JDM unit, there is rewiring to do.

While the US climate control doesn't have the auto AC function, it is not all mechanical. In particular, the "where does the air go" selection is done with a motor, I believe. The Civic of the same era does have cable-actuated flaps. Apparently you need to switch to the Civic climate control stuff if you want to add a Civic cruise control because the CRX control motor gets in the way.

(I hope I'm not remembering this completely backwards!!)

Yup, I had forgotten about that. It has the push buttons to select where the air goes, where as the Civic has a lever that works the cables.
