Here is a go at my first post on here. I hope this is the right place to put it at. I suppose it is a tech articlle though. Some of you old timers from HT, and other forums, might remember my car. It has been parked for many years. I've had 2 ZCes in it, a B16, and then a built CTR spec b16. Then I decided I wanted more, and was confused on what I wanted to do with it, and disgustsed with the Honda scene so I parked it for 3 years. This 3 years ago:

After many hours of crunching numbers, and researching and what not I decided on a k20a unit, and a JDM frontend, and a mugen replica front bumper. Below is the sad resting state it had endured for years.

I did manage to fit the frontend up though.

Finally I got it back on the ground and cleaned it up, and it saw daylight for the first time in years. Time to take it out to the shop and get started.

K series mount welded in, and engine bay shave started.

h

Fabbed up mounts for my EP3 shifter. Dash mount baby. I'm using a buddy club short shifter assembly for the ep3 02-05 si. I have no heat r AC, and I have to find a new spot for my radio, if I put one in.......

I got the drivetran from a fellow CRXer. K20A type-r, Hondata K Pro, DSS stg 1's, DTR Sigma Six Header, setup made 221whp. Here goes the test fit.

And it fits. This is actually the best fitting engine I've ever had in an EF chassis. it is super easy to install, and remove. Which I did, for I have more prep work to do befor I paint, and then install the engine for good. I also have to route all of the new brake lines. I'm doing a wire tuck, and a brake line, prop valve tuck. I should have the rest of the parts, fuel reg, rail, lines, and wire harness, in by next weekend, and I should have the engie bay painted, and the brake system completed. With any luck I might be able to test drive it........

thats going to be one fast CRX when you're done. Good luck with the rest of the swap!

I think I remember your screen name from the resource, although I don't remember seeing pics of your car.

Welcome back to the scene!

Yeah I meant you a few weeks ago at Niagara. I was rolling in the black CR-V, wearing the Ferrari hat. I bought Chris's drivetran the next week. I don't know how many Niagaras you've been to, but I've been going since N6, minus, last year, and the car wasn't there the last 3 years. I was reading the Niagara thread and saw you got kicked out. I guess I should have donated more than $5 for the wood Friday night.
Pff, my SOHC VTEC will smoke it

Welcome to the community Bart! Glad to see you made it over here, I've been following your log, and G0CRXG0's thread too. It's nice to get the experienced and knowledgable members of HT filtered out and over here.
Yeah (Azulito) Allan refered me. I've been trying to join for months finally I emailed a mod, and he got my account fixxed. HT can just be too much garbage allot of the time. It's too big for it's own good.

As for the project I guess I should state, I employed my dad to finish prepping the engine bay, after the shave. He should have it painted by tuesday, then I can route my brakelines, and install the motor. I removed the dash, doors, and started preping for the wiring, and brakeline routing. I also fought with my side impact beams that I'm removing from my 88 doors.
I forgot to add, you might want to invest in a new digi cam

I will after the swap is done. I've benn speding 3k a month on the car for the last few months. Haven't had much time for anything else. GoCRXGo lent me his, with dead batteries. As soon as I get the batts. I'll snap some new Hi-res pics.
And where is he? I'm sure everyone would love to see his Y49 over here (before the curse claims it that is).
BAART!!!
u finally made it over here :)

I can't wait to see it on the road...
Let me know if u need any help, Caleb and I are DYING to see that thing ;-)

Next weekend it should be running. If you guys want to come up and help, you are always welcome.
Where did you get the engine?

I stole it from some Canadian guy at the last Niagara meet.

Chris the K20A guy there, he sold it to me with Kpro, DSS stg1's, ACT HDSS, DTR header, the whole nine, for only $6500 He bought it from H-motors earlier this year. He was in a financial bind and sold it to me for cheap. His car got shot for Modified mag last saturday AM, and by midnight the swap was in the back of my CR-V headed to Ohio. by Sunday night, the pics abover were taken. I didn't sleep all weekend.

When I left you guys, the car looked like this:

It was then futher desecrated to being only a shell, and rear suspension, and then when it reimmerged it looked like this:

I've still got allot of work to d, but the end of the tunnel seems close now. At;east a whole lot closer.

Note the brakelines, omit the duct tape on the intake. Jeg's was out of 3" couplers.

Another angle did I mention the lack of brakelines?

Cabin is drivable.

Closeup of shifter braketry. I still need to add another brace or two. It still flexxes a little. If you squint you can see a brakeline, and part of a prop valve.

The end is near, and I will be driving it real soon. Please no flames on the mess, of the car. It runs, and not the foucs will be reassembly. At this point in time I would like to thank a few people that have made all of this possible. Without all of my hookups. I would still be building it.

First and Foremost Chris AKA K20EF8, for selling me his drivetran, at a great price. You are a super nice dude, and I appreciate the help. As I stated many times, whenever you are ready to put your car back together just call, I will be there tools in hand.

Second JDMcars.com PM them for best pricing on motor swaps, and mount kits for best pricing. I got my Hasports through them for dirt cheap! MEntuion my name, and they will know whats up.

Ryan and Peter fom Rywire. I usually build all my own harnesses. This one, I left up to the master. His Customer support, and willingness to answer his cell and help me when ever I call is admirable. He knows it is me when I call from my home phone now, he's got me programmed. ;) Thanks Ryan, your product is superb. Everybody buy Ryan's stuff he is a class act.

Thanks to John "Composimo" for the Oil cap. It clears like a champ!

Patrick At Jegs on 11th, in Cbus, you were really patient with me, and thanks to you, I didn't buy anything I didn't need, and it all worked great no problems.
Most everything else was purchase off of ebay.

The entire Honda-tech.com EF forum for your support, and kind words throught the whole process, and of course the overwelming wealth of knowledge on K20A.org. Now come to my meet, and check it out for yourselves. BTW sorry it was longer than 5min. I decided to make a novel out of this post. ;)

Thats one sexy oil cap you got there... man, it just makes the whole car... without it, you may as well burn the whole project down :p

Hahahah!

Lookin good man. And by the way, don't do that whole 'i'm selling out' thing.. just about gave me a heart attack... LoL!

Chris' engine hauled like a mo-fo. That thing will be a blast to drive!
Yes it did I can't wait! All I need is a cluster and then VTEC will work!
i would suggest a roll cage.
a roll cage? I guess there are no good reasons against it, but the NHRA only requires it for cars that run 11.99 and faster, and I doubt even a K20A will make a CRX that fast. I personally wouldn't do a roll cage voluntarily unless it was a dedicated race car. My CRX is street driven and I like my full interior :)
