Whats up crxcommunity!! Its been awhile but im finally back!!
Just picked up this sweet Y-49 you can say the curse it strike it haha. yes its an 88 si with original paint on it. no previous body work has been done to it that i can see besides the front passenger fender being a replacement one.
previous owner had the hood fly up on the freeway and smashed the windshield. got it for a steal. will request for new plates at the dmv when i register her.

small update. installed my mizu double row radiator.

after installing the radiator I plugged in a main relay to see if it would start. the previous owner said it was the fuel pump that was out. turns out it was a bad main relay the car fired right up but idles at 2k :? and alot of smoke raising from the engine bay, could it be burning the oil that has accumulated around the block?

found out the previous owner converted most mechanical part to a hf. engine, tranny, gauge cluster and im thinking the ecu as well. the rpm red lines at 5k. :? I have a long road ahead of me to getting her right.

Or it's a blank slate, and you're free to put in exactly what you want.

But you did buy a Y49, so really, isn't it your fault? :p Good luck with it; from the sounds of it, I wouldn't have been too trusting of what they had done anyway not to start from scratch again.

Agreed, this could be an opportunity to make the car how you want it by starting from the ground up.

Although this Y-49 curse, not sure I agree with that... I've owned 2 x Y49s now for a total of 13 years and nothing has ever occurred...

Keep the faith and the patience! :)b In the end, you will have touched everything and know it was done right.

yeah pretty much gonna do a full resto now. LOL
plans for the car now is collect b series parts for a swap in the future in the mean time i'll just ride on this motor until it gives out on me. its my 2nd car so no worries of it dying on me haha.

What about taking the time now to prepare for the B?

Suspension (shocks, springs, control arms, bushings, bearings)
Brakes (master cylinder, brake lines, calipers, rotors)
Fuel (tank and pump)
Interior

That way you keep moving and getting ready. The last thing you will want is to have a weakened brake setup or suspension. That motor will start to toss the chassis around instead of keeping things under control.
