I don't have a radio in my car, just an amp running directly off my mp3 player. I want to move the ECU to behind the console where the radio was, as it's currently on the floor behind the console. There is a relay attached to the rear radio bracket, what does it do? I haven't pulled the console out yet, I need to cut the mounting ears off the ECU to slide it in behind the radio block-off plate first. I can't see a mounting screw or anything for the relay.

I want to cut out that rear piece to make it fit. Will that cause any structural problems with the console? If it will I suppose I can just trim it, but I'd like a little more room for the extra wiring in there.

It's OBD1 so it won't bolt up. It's also hard to keep the wires out of the way with the wideband and the conversion harness, and I have my shock tower plugs and fusebox in the cabin. The fusebox and a lot of wires are chillin under the ECU cover plate. It would also be nice to put it in the console because I could leave the datalogging cable plugged into it there for easy access without worrying about my passengers' feet.
