GOD, i absolutly HATE everyone who has owned my car before me. If i ever find the guy who screwed up my car so badly, i'll probably kill him. When i got my car, i was 16, and i was a ricer. I wanted the flashy lights, obnoxous body kit, huge wing, and loud exhaust. in fact, i'll admit, the first thing i ever got for my car was an under body light kit. 100$, god i was stupid. Anyway, the guy who owned my car before me put a POS front bumper, side shirts, and door caps on it. I'm not saying i dont like the look, but i like stock better. I wish it would all just dissapear. every time i delve into this car, i find another thing wrong with it. I'd even go to say that if i knew what i know now when i bought it, i would have looked for a different one(still a CRX). for a short list of everything thats wrong with my car:

1. when i first turn it on, it idles at 2100 untill i drive for a bit.
2. something rattles in my catalitic converter when i'm at stop lights, making my car sound like a shaking paint can.
3. the front bumper is falling off.
4. nothing, and i meen nothing, lines up on the body
5. its missing god knows how many little pieces.
6. its 4 differnet colors
7. the sunroof is one big problem
8. it make a million bussing noises
9. abount a milion other things!

I apologise for the rant, i just get so frustrated sometimes and i'm hoping someone out there understands what i'm going through. I'm not exactly financialy gifted with college and everything. I just hope someday, i'll be able to get my car back to looking stock, looking good, and runnig good.

thanks everyone for letting me vent.

I started stripping my hood today... guess what? Its all filler! Its the same with my rear quarters, drivers side door, and I'm sure I'll hit some on every other panel I work on. At least the hood isn't an 1/8" thick

No wonder my car acts like a Y49... its been abused its entire life!!!! The first owner never changed the oil... motor lasted 70K, next one went at 140K (a couple months after I bought it). My ZC lasted only 3 months, and I've had seals/rings go in the next 2.

The chick who owned the car before me ran over a sign, so the passenger side fender is destroyed. She also backed it into a fire hydrant.

I think thats enough for now... I hope it helps you feel better.

I think you've got some important lessons out of this, though. First off, in all your anger and ranting, you never once said you wished you'd bought something OTHER than a CRX. So even a really bad CRX is still pretty good, right? Secondly, knowing what you now know, it will make the next one you buy that much sweeter. Once you're a little more financially able to make the jump, you should be able to find a pretty darn nice (and STOCK) CRX for around $3000 or so. Maybe less. Maybe more, if gas prices stay high. Believe it or not, there are still people out there who are original owners of these cars and have taken good care of them all the while - and some of them can be talked into letting go of their CRXs!

If you don't plan on doing a complete restoration on your car to bring it back to original condition, it might be a good time to do some serious planning. If it were me and that were my CRX (and I were in your same situation with school, money, etc.), I'd be inclined to only put the bare minimum into the car, just enough to keep it running until I could pull the cash together to find a better one. Then pawn the old one off on the next guy. Sounds cruel, but it's not; someone out there will love your car as much as you did when you first got it. You'll be on to your next, better CRX, and you'll have hooked another noob into "the joys of CRX". Win/win. :)

sounds a lot like me when i first got my rex... i loved it the first month, hated it to the smallest details the second month(mainly blaming the previous owner), then i came around and started to fix everything i hated about it... learning a lot in the process.

and what i learn about my car, i can apply to other cars most of the time.

i think when it all comes down to it, just as long the frame/chassis is not rusted out or bent , everything else is fixable. dents can be pulled, engines can be swapped, sunroofs can be plugged, bumpers and moldings can be realigned... it just depends on how much time and money you're willing to put in.

the only thing i still regret about my car is that i have no frickin aircon!

Mike, I see what you're saying about passing it off, but then I remember how sad I feel for every CRX in the junkyard...
I am planning on buying one from a friend this summer, excellent condition, low miles. Now I'm starting to think I may spend about half that and just get my body work done, since that's all it really needs. I'd like to have 2, one good and one beat CRX, but I would much rather have one pristine rex that I've saved from the scrap pile. Maybe someday I will sell it, it will be another good CRX on the market.
If it's not in a wreck, it should be on the road.

All is true. My first rex, i bought at aution, had a hole in the gas tank, and many other problems. I fixed most of them to get the car where i could run it and it never gave me a problem after that. I loved this car and treated it better then my ex-girlfriend sometimes. That why I almost cried when someone hit my Crx in a parking lot, but an hour later, after hitting the fender with a hammer, it look as good as new. Its going to be sad to see my first rex leave, but aleast i know its going to another person that loves crx's as much as the rest of us. Its on to my next project.

My car is my first rex after my best friend talked me into getting it instead of another cavalier. (Ive owned about 6, not including the ones I had for parts). I got it after it had been run into a guard rail and somebody had dogged the clutch. (Slipped like a mofo when I first got it) I had a new stock clucth, well perfection put in. Swapped on a 90 HF front end, 2 tune ups, minus the timing belt. New dizzy and brakes. Its needs two cancer spots fixed on the rear quarters, I just need to drop it off at the shop sometime, and really I need 2 new doors but I think mine can be saved with some work. And new I need 2 new axles....both are poping when I turn.
AND new struts and springs.

Lately Ive been riding my old school BMX bike to work for the exercise(Im outa shape..gota keep those girls comeing!) As soon as I get some god forsaken time away from work, get all my parts in, Its getting parked on stands and getting fixed.....damn it!!

I probably wont get another rex except for another DD...or project.
