Definition of CRX?

Another issue we should clarify is what generations of CRX are we focusing on for our community? I'm assuming we are allowing 1st and 2nd gens since they are pretty much universally refered to as a "CRX", but what about the 3rd gen del Sol/CRX? Are we going to acknowledge it as being part of our CRX Community?

I personally think we should embrace all 3 generations of the CRX. A lot of people install D16Z6 and B16a engines in their 2nd gens, so why not allow 3rd gens to participate in our discussions as well. There is a lot of related knowledge that spans all 3 generations.

Why be a hater to any?
I mean, granted none of us would be happy to see someone waltz in with a Prelude or 'teg and be all like "Hah, my car's more gooder than yours" but why limit it to only CRX's? Civic folks are just fine too. They've at least got the right manufacturer.

Although, I WILL be in favor of a ban on Elements. ;)
As long as it has parts that can be shoe-horned into my rex, we can talk about any car you want. The 1st and 2nd gens will obviously dominate the main discussions, but the 3rd gens should feel welcome too. Shunning a CRX just because it's a little heavy and kinda looks like a frog just seems to go against the whole positive vibe this place has going for it.
the del slo is a CRX nonetheless, and i like them myself. they're really not THAT overweight if you think about it, and you could get them stock with a b16! I've always noticed that it's somewhat rare for del sol owners to seek out crx boards as they aren't really similar to either gens. not that 1g's and 2g's are similar at all because they're really not. 1g's are awesome, 2g's are pigs  j/k.

The Del Sol is a CRX. Unfortunately, there's nothing we can do about that. (joke! joke! come on guys). Del Sol's are always welcome here. And for that matter, anybody is welcome here. Except for mustangs. Definitely not those guys. And camaros, the new GTO's or sunfires. In fact, anything domestic. Or non-honda foreign cars. In fact, how about only Si's, and 90 and 91's. Ok, ok. Joke has gone too far.

I don't want to keep anybody from feeling welcome here. In fact, I know at least one of the members here doesn't even own a Honda. But I really think that we need to focus on the CRX. If your car wore a CRX badge anywhere in the world, then this site is for you. I think Civic owners have a plethora of sites to choose from, and although they are more than welcome here, it's not going to be the focus. Otherwise, we would have named it "EF community", or "Civic and CRX Community."

I think we would all agree that the CRX is unique, and CRX owners have a unique bond. I don't want a site that gets over-inflated. So I guess the bottom line is, "focus on the CRX, but everybody's welcome."

Oh, and one last note. I want everybody who reads this to know that if I'm way off base, you can let me know. Don't be shy. Tell me what you think. PM, post, announce it to the world, whatever. I really want feedback. We all should be allowed to say what we really think. I can't stress this enough!

I totally agree with that. I've tried to hang out at places like www.ef-honda.com but I just couldn't stick around. The CRX "bond" just wasn't there. Just go check it out for about a week, you'll see what I mean.

They call it ZC (zed-sEE) in Japan, the country it comes from. Smart people, the Japanese.

A couple years ago, I offered a (zed-sEE) to an American for $500 and a (zEE-sEE) to him for $800. He picked the (zed-sEE). Good choice.

Well said. You have to ask yourself, do we want to be a North American CRX site, or a worldwide one? Outside the US and Canada, the del Sol *WAS* a Honda CRX! They didn't call it that here, obviously because we'd have staged an uprising, and thousands would have been killed, and Honda dealerships would have been burned to the ground, but less-informed people in the rest of the world (what we call the Third World, meaning everywhere outside the US and Canada ;) ) didn't object to the del Slow being called a CRX, so we kind of have to let them in.

Running and ducking...

It would've been good times... the smell of del sol's burning in the morning.... *sigh*.
I think putting the model as a user title might be useful.

ie
Charles
89 Si ZC
Charles: only problem with that is, what about us cross-gen guys? How would I identify myself, by my 2nd-gen CRXs, or by my 1G? Sure, I love the 2Gs, but the 1G is still "special" to me, being my first CRX and all...

Mike
Good point. Perhaps user-defined titles are the best.
Another thread revived from the dead.

Damn!

I know that every place else in the world the Dol Sol is considered a Crx, but really the Crx died when it lost it's hatchback form. :)b
And revived again. I think I may check out the first posts...
