I think Russo has several valid points. Unfortunately he seems to be confusing a couple of things.

First off, he claims that decoupling the intrinsic value of currency to it's value in gold, means the money is rendered value-less. Worthless. No backing.

In this he fails to see that the modern day intrinsic value is the value of trade we do every day. Storing gold is a labor and cost intensive business. That, combined with the instable value of gold, was (here in europe) the main reason for decoupling those two.

In my view, that is a good thing. Mainly because consumer goods (technically paid with gold) do not hold value, resulting in a non-equal trade. One factor in the HEFTY inflation of that time. Wich he so conveniently leaves out of his story of increased house value, for instance.

He does however, have good points in the regulation of this.
Printing more money, makes it worth less. Inflation.
This is all good, if labor and product output has increased. But in this case it has not. Money is being printed for the government to spend, without the backing of any resource. The same thing happened in the old eastern Europe and Russia. Inflation was so dramatic that people were ultimately carrying shopping bags of money to the stores, and coming back with just ta couple of eggs and some milk. The government at that time was printing currency like ten million dollar bills.

His border policy is bandwagoneering. Not even going into that. All over the world we're trying to open the borders up. And what... he wants to build a big fence?
Preposterous.

His chipping and homing device story gave me a good chuckle.
"You're going to be chipped like a dog" he said.
On the other hand, it's a homing device.
If this is so... where's my damned cat that ran away? Damn you, men in black! Damn you all!

Chipping is passive. Simple as that.
I think it's damned convenient actually. I hate carrying around big lumps of money.
What does my bank account have to do with it anyway? If "the government" wants my money now, there's nothing I can do about it either. They just freeze up my account.
A chip has nothing to do with that.

Then he starts to ramble up all sorts of ancient laws etc.
Times change. Get over it. Women and black people got to vote too. Progress can't always make everybody happy.

I'm sure he means well. He's obviously fairly intelligent. But he's basing most of his views on outdated principles.
In 1913 America was a free country.
It was also a backwards country where people pissed in a bucket.

He has alot of good points. But he's opposed alot of things too. What is he FOR?
I'm a bit of a libertarian. But I'm also a realist. I'm sick of people who oppose everything, but offer no alternative.

OK I get it. The system sucks. Now tell me. How do we fix it?

I dont think he has a real issue with the border, other then the fact that it is still wide open... meaning that our government is doing all this stuff to "protect" us from terrorism.. and our borders are WIDE OPEN.. I mean that doesnt make much sense.. that would be like installing a home security system, and then leaving your house wide open anyways...

I think that was more of his point with that argument..

I dont know if your a very religious person or not.. but when I hear of the "national id act" which takes effect in may 2008 here in the states.. and when i hear talk of putting chips with all of our info on them into our bodies.. I mean.. yeah I can see the arguments for chipping ourselves.. I could have chips in my kids, so if god forbid somebody takes one of them.. well the chip will lead me right to them.. or, getting chipped for the convience it would bring.. just like you stated above... I see all the good arguments for the chip.. yet, when I think about it.. the one thing that comes to my mind is this :

Revelation 13:16 said:
And He causeth all, both small and great, rich or poor, free and bond, to recieve a mark in their right hand, or in their forehead, and that no man might buy or sell save he had the mark.
I dont know guys. I have turned a corner in my life recently. I have been looking for some answers, and I have been finding alot of them.. but those answers are leading to more and more questions... One thing I have turned to is religion. Im not going to preach to anyone.. thats not my place, but I have been looking around, and I have been asking myself questions.. It just seems like, you know, if what was being introduced in the freedom to facism movie towards the end was true.. I mean if there is any possibilty that maybe, just maybe there is a shred of truth to it... then who really could be behind it all???

I am confident in my beliefs right now. I have turned my life over to Christ, I have become born again if you will.. I am not here to preach about it, Im not here to do that.. Im just here throwing some stuff out that I am trying to figure out for myself, and I just want to hear your honest opinions about it.

Thanks for listening, and offering your opinions.

Thanks Seti for your insights.

I know alot of you that know me are probably wondering, since I have been absent from the boards for awhile, just what has happend here with me.. and hopefully this weekend I can get the time to fill those who want to know in.

My honest opinion? The Book of Revelation, while interesting (to say the least), is believed by many scholars to be one of many works of apocalyptic literature, one which need not be taken literally. Much like Genesis: one doesn't have to believe that people of all different races actually descended from one man and his wife, or that a giant boat held a male and a female of each species of animal that exists (and none of them died on board...or got eaten) while the entire world flooded, then they docked it in one spot before the animals scattered around to every corner of every continent to repopulate the Earth...to be a Christian and "believe in" The Bible.

Certain parts are meant to teach readers a lesson, not to describe actual events from history. So, maybe a new automated payment method WON'T, in fact, spark the apocolypse/rapture/end of the world as we know it.

People said the exact same thing about the UPC (bar) codes when they first appeared on products, by the way. Taking that passage literally opens up a pretty big can of worms by requiring you to take all of Revelation (or even just the entire passage you quoted from) literally. We'll need a beast with two horns like a lamb who speaks like a dragon, to get this mark thing rolling. He'll be able to make it rain fire, of course. Everyone in the world (small and great, rich and poor, free and bond) will need to get one of these chips -- good luck with convincing my mom, by the way...she doesn't even have a debit card yet.

I don't think that we need to be too worried that the seventh seal will be opened by the same thing that I use to buy a Grape Faygo at the gas station, but I may be proven wrong.

Sneak, I agree on the part of the two-faced border thing.
It IS idiotic to have such strict security measures...and yet, have such lax border security.

On the chip thing....COME ON.
A mark? A chip? You're reaching now. And by a mile too.

Don't turn this one into religion too. Relighion has this nasty habit of turning and skewing everything in such a way that it conveniently fits "their beliefs". However misguided they are.
Let's keep it intelligent, instead of religious mkay?

I do think that people with agendas are running your country, as well as mine.
It's been like this since before the beginning of time. And will probably stay that way for a while.
However I don't think they are conspiring against the people. I think it's much simpler than that. They are there for personal gain, and to make anybody they encounter to do what they want, the way they want it.
It starts out in the sandbox, and escalates untill you have well...think about it. You think bush comes up with all that stuff on his own? He can't even spell his name.
He's just being pushed into a direction convenient for certain people.

I'm absolutely 100% not an ICP fan, I just thought Grape Faygo was the funniest-sounding soda. Plus, it's tasty.
Faygo is great since it's cheap.

As far as ICP goes, some songs are funny, that's the only reason I'd listen. Ever heard "bugz on my nutz" Instant classic.
