    -Piston Rings
    88-91 Civic/CRX // 86-89 Integra

I have read that serial numbers on the ZC engine can tell you about where it came from. ZCs with a serial number starting with 2 is from Civic/CR-X and with a 5 is 2nd-gen Integra.

Also, if you look between the 2nd and 3rd cylinder (above the dipstick), above the header, you will see the 2 digit date stamp of manufacture.

Good stuff Cory! I added it to the list in the FAQ. When am I going to see a DOHC ZC'd CRX out here?
Hey thanks Tom,very good! :D

I found the list on a Honda Motor Importer site.
Through what i know and what i have researched it looks accurate but can anyone else back me up and just confirm the accuracy of the list, so i am not posting inaccurate info.

Hopefully i can get my ass in gear pretty soon and find the time to put that tranny and header i got from you to good use and get my 2 cam Zc in the Crx.

nice info. Very good Listings. I will be referencing this as i am looking to do a DOHC ZC swap. I read that the 3rd gen ZC how do you tell a 1st,2nd 3rd gen ZC from another, i know there are Valve Cover paint color codes, what if some one painted them though is their a distinct numbering sequence on the motor or something?

first gens came in brown and bleck tops i believe, but had four valve cover bolts located on top of the cover... the second gen was obd0, had ditributor and external cam sensor, valve cover bolts on the sides of the cover.. and last was odb1 zc, from what i can tell its the same as the obd0 but internal cam sensor in the distributor... has a plug like the b series.. u can make a second gen obd1 though... but the first gens only fit in 3g civics and 1 g crxs like my white one... has driversside motor mount in front of the motor!

the motor in my 1g is basically the usdm version of the first gen zc its out of a 87 integra... ancient import :D
The US Integra motor, d16a1, is similar to a 1st gen ZC. It has a lower hp rating.
But with the 2nd and 3rd gen DOHC Zc's, there is no US equivalent.

Does it matter that there are to types of ZC engines (CRX and Integra)? Is the parts list the same for both?
