Ok, still fairly new to the whole Rex scene but I have a question...I bought a used '88 Rex a while ago and was told that it was a DX but everytime I have run the VIN it keeps coming back as an SI. It has a full power sun-roof (doesn't work but it's there!) but the engine was a 1.5L and not a 1.6! Any other way to verify or do I just go off what the VIN says? :help:

Hey, you're back!
You and I are the only ones here in Idaho, you know!

If it has a sunroof, it is an Si.
Not entirely true! I have seen a couple of HFs with factory, yes factory, sunroofs. I didn't believe it and argued the point at first, but proof is in the product. He could have an HF ;D but more than likely its an Si.

factory metal sliding moon roof ( not aftermarket installed) ed9 vin never NEVER seen a dx or an HF with the metal sunroof. . . never made on that I am aware of then again I do not claim to know everything. . . more than likely the one that was seen was an hf that someone out a si roof on. . . its really not that hard to change a roof. . . and mostly required for a car that has been rolled and r titled. .

My Rex has a sunroof... and its a DX :?
Are you two talking about the glass, manual pop-up type? IIRC, those were dealer installed. The Si sunroof is a motorized, opaque metal panel. If you find what seems to be a non-Si with a motorized roof, I would check the VIN like jfro' said... It might just be an odd engine swap. It's also possible to swap panels - someone could swap on the whole Si roof.

I was referring to a motorized variant, and the thing didn't look to be modded in either. The paint was relatively fresh, so its possible, but there was VERY little aftermarket done.

Pull the headliner down and see if it has welds on supports. That will tell you if it was changed along with all the epoxi and seam sealer. I have changed my roof on my civic. You can't tell unless you see under the headliner.
