The auction description reads like this.

"JDMB16A motor. Freshened up bearings, seals and gaskets. Ported and polished head. DC sport header. Skunk 2 adjustable cam sprockets. Lightweight flywheel. Racing clutch. Coil over suspension. Acura roters and axles. Zdyne computer. Adjustable fuel pressure gage. Carbon fiber hood. Fresh Viper Red paint. Approx. hp 220."

220 hp with that work? Seems kind of a lofty claim to me, especially when the b16 will only put about 140 or so to the wheels. Is it possible to get an extra 80hp out of it from those engine mods?

Typical Ricer math, I highly doubt he's making more than 160 to the wheels

LOL I love how he reversed the pictures to make it look like a RHD

I think it's totally possible
Stock B16 160 HP
PP head +20
DC header +15
Cam sprockets +10
Zdyne +20
FPR +5

I wish it were that easy!

I say max is 160whp or about 180 at the flywheel. No way it has 220. To get 220, you need alot of head work and a 1.8L bottom end if you try to stay NA without doing crazy bottom end upgrades to a 1.6L.

160WHP is really optimistic even. At 12% loss and 180 at the flywheel that would mean a header, plug n pray computer and shiney sprockets would make 30 HP.
Unless that thing has had some serious dyno time, it's going to stick just around 160 at the flywheel.

It has P&P head, with cam gears and with some time on the dyno it could make alot more then 160 at the flywheel. And I said 160 MAX. I would really like to see dyno results when purchasing a modded car, and I hope whoever buys that says the same thing...

Plus 12% isn't exactly accurate. Condition of clutch / type of clutch helps to make that number smaller.

Just out of my sheer curiosity, i emailed the seller to ask if they could back up that lofty claim of 220hp.

People like this take all the advertised hp gains for the seperate parts and add them all up and then add it to the factory rating of a new motor.

Dumbasses. :rolleyes1:

my B18B stock read 142hp in the book but at wheel came off 128....

so how much a B16 160hp in book does at the wheel?

if you calculate by the book yes 220hp will be tru but at wheel what is gonna be the real number?
A stock 1st gen B16 in a CRX usually puts about 140 to the wheels. This would be consistent with ~165 at the crank. If it's putting out 220 at the crank, it would have to be putting down at least 185-190 to the wheel. I do not believe the mods listed will produce nearly 50 additional whp.

There's no way to make that much more power on a B16 without cams. It's possible that with the Zdyne and ported head he's revving it higher, but I'm going to assume it's still got stock valves and valve springs, so the power will definitely start to drop off above 8k. There's no mention of what cat or exhaust is on there, and with a stock cat all the extra flow through the head and header is wasted.

Basically, this car could put 160 to the wheels, any more and I'd be impressed.
