EDM seatbelts?

1663 Views 4 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  nihkon
I'm going to be converting my 91 si to EDM Door Panels, Power mirrors, Locks and Windows... and was wondering who has done this swap.

Seeing that the USDM doors have the seatbelt system in place... anyone know where I can get EDM seatbelts for the 91 si?

Are there already mounting spots for EDM seatbelts in the UDM version? Or will i have to drill into the floor pan?

You can pull the belts from any 88 CRX, or the 89 HF to move them to the pillars. I'm not sure if the holes are still in the frame for them. they should be, but may just needed a tapping.

Yah I just found that out a few minutes ago that the 88's had them, I'm pretty new to crx, and i already feel like i'm knee deep. I can't wait till the hard questions come out of me haha.
okay lets see if i can do this right.... (just posted new posts instead of replying haha) sorry admins.

I just read that models with Door Mounted belts have a wider pillar at the end of the door for the mount... so chances are, the pillar will need some tapping to mount the belts...

just FYI for everyone, I'll probably post a how-to with pictures etc once I get my belts in (after I get my el-canada doors, switches and what not).

If anyone knows for sure please let us all know!
I actually just did this in my '91 CRX. Yes, there are holes in the b-pillar, but they are not deep enough to thread them. I followed a write-up that's on HondaTech. If I can find it I'll post a link.

Basically you weld nuts to a small base plate. Grind out the existing holes in the b-pillar so that they're large enough to slide the nut into and then weld the backing plate to the b-pillar.

There are already threaded holes for the bottom bolt at the door sill, and for the buckle side. . .only on the passenger side though. So you'll need to weld in the nuts for the upper bolts on both sides, as well as both lower mounts on the driver side.

As mentioned above, you can use seatbelts out of any '88 CRX, or from the '89 HF (although that one will be blue). In the write-up that I followed, the guy actually used an EG seatbelt. So that opens up your options a little.

Here's the link to the write-up:

Notice that he doesn't mention the driver side buckle mount. You will need the buckles from the '88 (or whatever year you get) as the '88 belts don't work with the 89+ buckles.
