That's way more work than I'd be up for!
Currently over 400 hours into it so far. The hard part was sourcing all new rubber and seals for a reasonable price lol. Still need to paint the rest of the body kit, undercoat the car, put the glass back in, and detail it.
I have a full assortment of PCI suspension arms for it, but if I go AWD I'll likely sell those. Also have some BNIB BC coilovers that will be for sale, as I found a very low mileage, like new, Mugen ITR set. Again, if I go AWD, the five lug setup will be sold, as I will be getting custom made rear trailing arms that can accommodate R33 GTR spec wheels.

Is it the same as the Skyline Midnight Purple?
No. It's a custom blend my painter came up for me. I told him what I was going after, and he made three different samples for me. All three look black straight on, but at different angles they would show different amounts of the color depending on the light source temperature and direction. One was blueish purple, one midnight purple, and one redish purple. I chose the midnight purple. It's a black base, but has some of this very small metalic flake in it that makes the car look like the color is changing. Then eight coats of clear. Car hasn't been polished and buffed yet, so I expect it to really pop. After a few months, and all of the chemicals have evaporated out of the paint, I'm going to have the whole car ceramic coated, for both the protection and that extra bit of depth.

Little cold snap here kinda delayed any progress since starting this thread. Went by the shop today, all of the body parts that haven't been painted yet are in the booth and will be painted tomorrow. Pics on the previous page are without clear, that's why it looks so flat in the booth.

When the car is under fluorescent light it really looks black, so wild. Original plan was eight layers of clear, but the painter didn't want to chance a reaction. He said it doesn't happen often, but didn't want to risk it on this, so we just went with five coats of clear. He also spent more time between coats to ensure it all stuck.

Everything that was painted has been sanded and aired out, so they just have to finish sanding it for the buff. While the same process is applied to the rest of the body kit, spoilers, etc. they're going to apply lizardskin (like bed liner) to the underside of the car, wheel wells, etc. Then they're going to see about fabbing up some mounting kit for a Spoon S2000 diffuser I had laying around, cut it up, try to make it work. Probably end up cutting it up again when I modify the exhaust to add a v-band so I can swap a Mugen N1 muffler on there. Then I can use it on two cars :)

Regarding additional parts going on the car, today I bought four brand new Mugen emblems for the body kit, so I'll have one spare. I'll keep the three old ones. Two will go with my spare side skirts I have in the garage, the other used one I'll probably hold onto, never know if I find another spoiler for sale (sold my other spare a few weeks ago). Also got some double DIN block off plates, and a Mugen push start ignition button to mount onto one of them. Going to have that incorporated with keyless entry and maybe remote start. Some Mugen license plate bolts for it, and NightRunner plate adapters. Have a TraKyoto white tow strap coming in from Japan, to match the Sprint Hart CPRs. I have some TopSecret gold hood struts somewhere, but I don't know where they're at, bought them right before that earthquake in Japan. Found the Ti catch can they made for me though.

Body shop wants to take the car to a local car show at the end of March, but if it goes it will likely still be four lug, on steelies, and NA. I have some nice GAB wheels, but the car would be stanced with them on as they're effectively 16x7+20 with the adapters. I think it would look kinda dumb, not into that look, but they're the only set of four lug wheels I own. Shop is slammed, and I don't have my extra garage and lifts at the house yet, and fuck doing that **** in the driveway on the ground. Want to dyno it prior to doing any work with the supercharger anyway just to see if there was internal work done. Need to unwrap the header and see who made it, but just curiosity. Have a new Mugen one for it already.

Some recent swag coming in from Japan, and from other enthusiasts/collectors. Got really lucky on the emblems for the body kit. The plan for the push start button is going to be integrate it with a remote start/keyless entry system. I know a guy that is working creating this product, but he's moving buildings and expanding, so that will be down the line. One of the OEM double-DIN block off plates will be sacrificed, and cut to accept the button, and and AF meter or something, dunno yet. I know there's a software app for showing gauges on an android device from the Hondata ECU, so maybe have a mount come out of it, or put a mount on it if the double sided tape is strong enough. Or just cover the block off with stickers of 80s Japanese porn stars :p

Edit: disregard, I canceled this order after I was informed they wouldn't make the deadline I have for making that show next month.

Small update as of a few minutes ago. Have some temp 4-lug wheels on order from Japan. For those that don't know, Mugen has started creating cast versions of their MF10 line as of this month. Hopefully they show up within the next month, as the body shop would like to take the car to a show at the end of March.
They are 15x8+32, so should really fill out the wheel well nicely and with the fenders all having been rolled flat, I think they'll fit no problem with some decently wide 195/50/15 tires.

My painter was recently interviewed by a local news outlet. Some of his work is presented, as well as my car in its current state.

Work has slowed as we're in another cold snap, but I think most of the work left on the car is cutting, polishing, and just cleaning it up in general.
In other news, received another car today, another 1991 Honda Beat. It's a mid engine car sold in Japan. My first one isn't in the best shape, but it's a fun little car. It has a Spoon Sports livery on it in the form of a wrap, and it's bubbling, so we're pretty sure it's got a lot of rust. So, the idea is to use it as a rally car at the local dirt track. It's mechanically sound, has Mugen suspension on it, and a Feel's hardtop. The radio doesn't work, AC doesn't work, soft top is tore up, missing a mirror, rear bumper is cut in half, etc. so seemed like the perfect candidate for an off road car. Current mods on it, other than the suspension, are some wheels (no idea what they are), an EMU standalone, flexfuel, injectors, headers and custom exhaust.
It's powered by a 660cc three cylinder engine that winds out to 10,000, and come from the factory with ITBs, essentially a motorcycle engine hooked up to a 5 speed sitting in the 'trunk' area between the rear wheels. While it's not a ton of power, these cars only weigh like 1500 lbs. I think the gas tank is like 4-5 gallons lol, usually costs me about $10 to fill it up.

Why am I going on and on about a car that has nothing to do with this thread?
Well, I just bought another one. It's silver (which I love), the softop is in great condition, radio works, AC works, general all around good condition. Timing belt was serviced about 30,000 miles ago too. Only downside is the driver's seat is a bucket, and it has a tear in it. So, plan is to swap the seats, suspension, the tops, and all of the other mods between the cars, and try to fit some 16x7 GAB wheels I have sitting in my garage (stock is like 13x5 or something?) This car has 14x? Enkei wheels.

Weather kinda slowed things down for the body shop, but I think the car will be done soon. Hopefully have it back in a few weeks, and start doing some small things while the paint airs out and the five lug swap is cleaned up and either powdercoated, lizard skinned, or both. Plan is to get it home, and maybe get some stuff done before it goes in for ceramic coating. After that, the supercharger install, and 5-lug swap and full suspension refresh (AWD?) will be scheduled.

Things to do:
-basic rice. I have lights, interior stuff, stickers, exterior stuff. This car is going to look like a meme.
-swap out the JDM rear seat and interior for a USDM cargo storage setup I have in the garage. Maybe reupholster the seat, it has a tear.
-new bolts and a little clean up of the engine bay, coil on plug conversion, maybe some dress up, etc.
-install a Mugen header, custom exhaust with v-band end so I can swap the Mugen N1 muffler between the CRX and the EK.

Speaking of the EK and Mugen N1 muffler... well, that thing is running now with it's electrical gremlins sorted (don't ask). It's the OEM+ stockish looking silver 96 Civic coupe posted below. Well, did the flex fuel conversion on it, updated the Hondata ECU, and installed a bad ass intake manifold (previously using an OEM one, but the best OEM one). Car hadn't ran in a while, and was built and tuned for E85. Put an SR-6 Recaro in the driver's seat, replaced the fuel lines, jigged up a remote IACV onto the huge TB to try to get some sort of idle when it warms up lol. This car made almost 300 whp at Chameleon's shop in NYC for those that are familiar with some of his builds or customers. All motor E85.

The fuel in the tank was a few years old, so filled it up with 93, some booster, and E85, and started it up this last week at home to burn some of the gas off and kinda shake it down some. Got it warmed up enough to idle, and drove it around the neighborhood, maybe 10 minutes total, doing a run down and then up the hill on the other side, and back down and then up to my side. The neighborhood I live in is mostly retired people, half acre+ lots on a side of a hill over looking a lake and a national park.

About 20 minutes after getting back home a cop showed up lol. She said at least three people called, and that while I wasn't in violation of anything, she would hang out in her car there for at least 10 minutes so people would stop calling lol. Car was idling in the driveway for about about four hours. It was a week day, early afternoon, I wasn't being an ass doing it at 6AM or after dark, and it's not as loud as a lawnmower lol.

AWD? That's more than just suspension. Probably cutting and splicing the floor pan, the gas tank, and more. Not to mention digging up all of the driveshaft/diff/drive axles and the trans with an extra output for the rear drive.

I suppose you could use the trans from the AWD "wagovan" (I think it was?), but that was built to send only something like 5% of the total power to the rear wheels. And it is none too strong as I recall...

Most likely it will be a mix of FCSrace and S1built parts. Plan is to do it first on one car, and then swap everything that's universal over to the other car when I want that one AWD. A good friend of mine is doing a C38 Kraftwerks supercharged K24 six speed AWD DC2 ITR, and he's been working with some companies prototyping parts and test fitting. I wasn't planning on AWD with the CRX until he told me that S1 was making a limited run of the eyelet style rear lower control arms so he could keep his suspension setup. Car is almost 'done' at the paint shop. Dropped off some brand new rubber seals for the tail lights yesterday, and some other knick knacks today. Hopefully everything will be cut/polished/buffed and put back together by the end of this month. Glass is due to be put in in a week or two. Going with a bronze tint on the glass so it matches the OEM bronze tinted glass roof. Also found out the amp under the passenger seat is actually and OEM optional unit, had no idea they even offered that back in the 80s!

New windshield and quarter glass is in. Saw a CRX that didn't use the rubber around the quarter glass, and I thought it looked better that way, so I opted not to use mine.
Can start cleaning it up soon and getting it ready to come home and get parked in the garage until it's ready for ceramic coating. Got a list of things that will be done while it's waiting:
Get the five lug swap sand blasted and then hit with lizard skin
Get the rear seat reupholstered
Install the front seats and steering wheel
Figure out what stickers I want on the car and where
Run the wiring for all of the rice gimmick lights and stuff I've bought just because
Sort out the speaker wiring, OEM optional amp under the seat, no idea if it works, and run wiring for shelf speakers in the hatch
Then it's off ceramic, tint, and then my brother's shop for the supercharger/aftercooler install, five lug, all new suspension, wheels and brakes. I don't have the budget for AWD yet, but I'm still keeping the door open to it in the future for sure.
