After reading this I wanted to respond and call you captain obvious, but then I went back and realized how old those cars were. I mean wow, thats impressive to hold that record for so long. Makes me wonder if dethroning Mopar was their intention????

Dodge might have the 2nd and 3rd place locked in. But they did it with very limited production cars that had to be produced so they could drag race them. They were basically 2 seats and aluminum front ends. Not fair if you ask me.

Well....no not yet Bart...sorry mang, I'm falling behind.

Cool to see alot of 1/4 mile records are held by muscle cars. 2nd and 3rd have half the horsepower of the first place and it only ran .1 faster...and it's AWD too haha. Cool.

My dad's vette is said to run 12s or 13s. I forget which one it is. It would be faster but the final drive is not good for 1/4 mile. A previous owner oval tracked the car. It has around 500 flywheel horse power. It sounds so nice. When my dad revs it it reminds me of the back straight of mid-o when the v8 down shift. To bad he won't let me take it for a ride. I don't even want to burn out or go 80mph. I just want one nice pull to 65mph.

Last guy that made the news with a vette was 25-29 ish, and he had just bought it. He was a real estate develloper, took an on-ramp to fast and managed to kill himself, a 16 year old girl and her mom at the same time. Destroyed a vette, a sunfire and a pole. Vette's are the greatest at handling (no personal experience) but man are they ever highway monsters haha. During the summer a vette flew by me and it just sounded so angry. It was exciting.

Honda S2000 2.0L 240hp 13.8 1/4mi.

Add slicks I bet I could run 11.9. Spun like mad. Had to run 1/2 throttle in first 2 gears. Some people on K20A have run 11.7 with my setup+slicks, bit I know I am not the best drag racer. Azenis 615s were over heat cycled auto-xing, and weren't worth a good squirt of piss. Your car should be deep in the 11's with slicks.

the new jeep cherokee srt-8 runs a 13.2 stock.. not bad for a suv.

It has a 96 vette body but the chassis is a 89. Maybe I will snap a picture of the car while I am out taking pictures of my crx tomorrow. I hate mustangs because everyone has one and they all think that they are great. Or if someone doesn't have one they want one. I'm not liked by some of the car people in my town. HAHA. Even though I would be some what interested in their car is they had any respect for my car.

I get annoyed by the Hemi. Yes it might be a good powerful engine but they have put it in almost every automobile that they have produced. I can't wait till the Hemi mini van comes out.

I'm "supposed to" run 14 in my CLK. I've never timed it and I don't generally race it either. Besides, it's not really a car designed to be 'off the line' fast. It's all about the open highway. She doesn't even really open up until 90 mph and up.
