While were on touchy subjects here..... who has seen the movie? I personaly won't pay money to see it. I think its a disgrace that people are trying to make money of the lives of these heros. From what i have herd, the producers got the permission from the familys, but to me, that dosn't justify it. If they hadnt died, they wouldnt have a movie. I can understand making a documentary on it. Thats no problem. But the sole purpose of a movie is to make money, not to embrace or prove a point. Documentarys usuialy do not make money.
This movie is not like perl harbor or other "real situation" movies, where the characters are ficticious in a real setting, these are real people who died in a real tragity that we all were here for. There names belong in a memorial, not the movie theater.

in my opinoin i can see both sides of this situation

on one hand, ya they are trying to make money but who in this world isn't

on the other they are also trying to let everyone in the free world know exactly what happened on that flight, while giving credit where it is due to the brave people that were on that flight, they got more balls than i do, i think its awsome that they are this movie was created, it was a huge event, i suspect it will be informitive on what exactly happened, i just hope they don't do the typical hollywood thing and decide to throw in there own into the drama, if its a based on true events its gay, but if its made in the sense of exactly what happened or what is feesable that happened and not throwing a talking dog, or an angel appearing and trying to save the day with an apricot, snorkel, and corkscrew then it will be on my to see list

AFAIK "Flight 93" was a made for TV movie, "United 93" is the one in theatres.

Kinda like what rex2nr said. What makes the movie "special", if you want to call it that, is that it took place during 9/11. 9/11 was the most catastrophic terrorist event in the United States. I think that it is being made into a movie because families (they were talking to the victims on cell phones who were telling them what was happening) are able to recount exactly what was going on inside the plane as the terrorists were hijacking the plane. It's not possible to be 100% accurate on what went down on the plane, but the specific details that will be shown, will, I hope, be accurate.

Regardless, it's a tragic ending for the people that were on the airplane.

I feel sorry for the people that died. The movie looks crappy, I won't be seeing it, yet it got great reviews from the critics... go figure

I have a deep appreciate for the events that took place on 9/11. But however, I have to agree with Dren and Seti. A movie will not make me appreciate it any more than I already do. Watching a true documentary on the events that unfolded would provide, I hope, a more accurate depiction of what happened. Interesting or not, I have no desire to watch a movie on it. I'll watch a documentary though.

I mind a bad movie about this just as bad as I mind a bad war movie.

In WW2 movies I've seen the dutch being portrayed as either dim witted goof-offs or abstract war heroes. How would that make the survivors feel?

Heroes are everywhere. It's incredibly arrogant chauvinistic and shortsighted to say that this could only happen in America.
It just happened to be over america...and there might as well have been french and german people aboard to help. But there aren't alot of those on short hop-flights within the US.

Every movie made, regardless of subject, wich is based on a true story, has the potential to hurt the ones involved. It just happens to be so that there are more people involved as usual. And that there are more "survivors left behind" and more current material to work with.
