i have a problem with my car today i put it in my garage and left it on and went outside for a minute and came back in and got hit with a big smell of gas coming from my exhaust i have been noticing it for a while and its getting annoying cause i always smell like gas. what can it be the car does not smoke and i got the engine rebuilt last year can it be running to rich?

Keep in mind the Gas tank is very close to the exhaust. Have you looked underneath for a leak?

yea ive checked but it doesnt leak i left it inside my garage last night with a full tank and the floor is dry so im guessing it doesnt and im pretty sure its from my exhaust cause i can smell it only when the car is on.

Check your gas cap as well. My car mysteriously started smelling like gas, and all it turned out to be was a bad gas cap (go with an OEM one, they're expensive but they actually work).

To try and explain better it smells like when your driving behind that really old car in front of you and the exhaust gases smell horrible,and like i said i can only smell it when the car is on.

Sounds like what just started happening to me. I have been told be two people that it is probably my O2 sensor.
