Well not what you think. ( i got married a few weeks ago btw)

I want to put a hitch of my crx to tow another crx with it. Uhaul wont do it and said they wouldnt rent me a tow dolley anyway.

I need a class 2 for a tow dolley i think. No one in town will do it, not that they cant, they just wont. They told me it wont pull much to "its FWD you cant tow anything" to "you cant tow with a honda".

Any ideas, i know shorte has one on his. How has everyone done it? I have a ww rear bumper also but i think i can work around it if i have to.

Congrats on the 1st hitch. Not sure if you need another one :) Why do you need to tow another CRX? I'm eventually going to buy a cheap truck just for hauling stuff.
If you were closer i could build you one... lol! However, i do have an idea for you... go to www.etrailer.com I've recently purchased a LOT of stuff from them, and i've had nothing but great experiences with them. They'll have the hitch.

And if the WW bumper gets in the way, go to a junkyard, and find an old buick or something with the flip-down license plate for the gas filler, and use that flip bracket to mount your plate.... cut a hole in the bumper, and then when you tow, just flip the plate down :)

LMAO!! Thats exactly what I was going to do!

Well I want to buy jmarts crx. He is in boston, so i was hoping to drive there after N12 and pick it up. Uhaul informed me my bumper hitch on my truck is inadequate to pull a towdolley, and it has to be a frame mounted unit.
i checked out the site. the only one i could find that said it woudl fit the crx is rated for 1000lbs. I need one a little heavier dont I?
its rated light because of how it mounts... you have to drill holes in the frame, and spare tire well afaik. Personally, i'd build something that attaches to the rear tow hooks, but that would be a complete custom unit.
well hop to it john boy  i need it by friday
Like by tomorrow??? lol!

And what'd you be willing to pay for one that attaches via the tow hooks? :p
i bet a 1k rated hitch would be fine. tow dolleys have no tongue weight, just tugging weight, the whole car is supported by the dolley's wheels.

your biggest problem would be stopping :?
well it would be before next friday, my mistake. Work me a price and pm me 8) you never know

if i buy a hitch from you, will you throw in a snazzy ICON hitch cover too?
i just got into rex's, so please don`t laugh, but isn`t the tow hook in the center of the car? if so, this setup might work well with little adapting:

Congrats on the first hitch! This is the girlfriend from N10 & N11 of course? (sorry forgot her name)
yep sure is. its Paula. been together for 7years, pretty much married anyway 8)
I don't know if you've seen this post before but it shows a little of what else I did

I also have 3 HUGE washers inside on the 3 bolts that go through the frontward part of the frame.
I believe if you reinforce the mounting of the hitch like I did you won't have any problems. I towed a complete crx from Tuscon to New Orleans (I think it was like 1500 miles) without any hitch related problems, the blowout on the dolly had nothing to with the hitch.
thanks shorte! i may end up doing that.
Well realistically, with what i have in front of me that has to get done sooner, having it in your hands by next friday wouldn't be do-able... if you have more time to plan, let me know... hehe.

I second that! I got a hitch for our minivan, and it turned out to be manufactured wrong (quare tube where ball assembly slides into was backwards). They shipped a new one ot to me right away, without even waiting to get the other one back from me.
Well after searching around I found a U-haul that has the hitch in stock. Too bad they are about 4 hours one way from here though. I dont think it would work anyway due to the design. The way it comes under the factory bumper wouldnt work w/ the WW kit.

So I figured screw it, ill just put a hitch on my toyota. I bought a Class 3 unversal Reese got home and started the install. It didnt get to far though. I crawled up under the back of the truck and started looking at all the rot. I knew it had alot of rot in it, but HOLY CRAP!! Ther isnt a part of the under body that isnt rotting away. I actually pushed on a part of the frame where the hitch was suppose to mount to and it broke off  .

Needless to say, I took the hitch back and abandoned that project. Now I need to run the truck through a bunch of mud, wash the body then sell it
