The lids are way overboard. IN fact, I'm pretty sure they'll interfere with the light pattern.
...on the other hand, your USDM headlights are different.

I like the polished grille though. That would look real nice with some black mesh behind it.

Why don't you cut the lids in half, and taper them down towards the center?
My car has eyelids as well, but doesn't interfere with the light pattern.
