i dont know if anyone else has seen it or had the idea before but i was thinking it would be cool to put tint over the stock guage cluster and modify the stock guages where the letters are brighter and the needles are brighter as well as having the lights on the guages turned on all the time while the car is on.. to kind of give it an analog digital feel on a budget. i dont know its just an idea i was wondering if anyone has seen it or thought it might be a cool idea.

My cousin's Infiniti I30 has gauges like that, and it looks good on that tach, but I think retrofitting won't work so well. Your idea sounds cool on paper, but as SETI pointed out, the realization of it can have drawbacks.

For me, a VT cluster is the only gauge mod I'll ever need. I do wish the needles were white though.

....painting them white did not occur to you?
And our dutch clusters are in KPH. Not miles.
This thread's already been jacked too much, but painting did not come up, as I'm a bit concerned with changing the weight of the needles and losing accuracy. I should've just swapped needles from my stock cluster, but that's long since been trashed. I've never seen white needled VT clusters though, either UKDM or EDM. Every one has had amber needles. Maybe you have a pic? PM or IM it to me.

so its hard to see on a sunny day.. is that in an exposed area? my only thought is that with the way the dash is there is that extra kind of "awning" over the guages. my thought was mabe doing a tint on the existing clear plastic and then maybe retorfitting in white led's where the stock bulbs are to make the guages brighter. i guess they would have to be alot brighter though right?
