Hey Guys,

Does anybody run a harness in their CRX? If so, is it done with a harness bar or bolted in somewhere?

I looked up the Sparco website but didn't find a harness bar for the CRX. I'd prefer to have one since it'd be a perfect set up to mount an in car camera for some track footage I'd like to take this year. Any suggestions?

If you're going to run with a harness you're going to need a harness bar that's about even with the harness holes. If you don't then the second you're in a crash you can compress your spine and die. The only way I know of is to get a cage of some sort. I suppose that you could run a bar from each door frame and triangulate them to the floor and roof, but it'd probably be just as easy to run a real street cage.

Yup, better to wait and stay safe then to do the job badly. No matter what, you're going to have to weld, so you might as well hold off and just get a cage.

It's just so that you can run a harness without killing yourself (always important). Some harness bars can also add a bit of lateral rigidity, but they're obviously not a replacement for a real cage. I personally prefer the way a harness secures me into a seat, but that's just me, and as I don't have the funds to install the needed equipment I stay with the 3-point. If you look at my avatar, that's me in a 5-point harness. That holds me in to the seat when I jump that thing off of 10 foot drops, I like that (of course, there's a roll cage there too).

all i did was take some pipe and wellde so ends on it ,not finished in the pic but gives you an idea of what you can do ,i allso have peices that weld on for the harness and other peices that tie the in to the seat belt bolts and back to the rear strut towers

it will work fone until i get or have a cage made ,kinda sucks that shipping a cage from the states would cost the same amout of the cage .much cheaper to buy the pipe and bend my own
