Has this ever happened to your seats before?

Today one of my seatrails ripped out the mounting nut from the bottom of the seat pan. Notice all the torn sheet metal. I've never been hard on the seats...I was just getting out of my car when it happened. I guess it was the straw that broke the camel's back in this case. And I guess I'm going to have to learn how to weld pretty quick! I've got the passenger's seat swapped over to the driver's side for the meantime.

dude.....hopping in the car is just a phrase...dont take it seriously.

really though, that is screwed up. that is a first for me. :?:
the EXACT samke thing happened to my 1991.
I honestly can't bring myself to believe that I was the cause of that. There must have been some underlying problem with the seat from the previous owner that I never noticed before. I am always really gentle with my seats because I never wanted the seat cover to tear or the foam to collapse on me. The carnage is a bit mind boggling. On closer inspection, I think it might be easier to grab a seat pan from a wrecker and swap everything over.

What did you do to solve the problem?
I am so heavy that I DID break my seat back. I have a bad habit of llifting my ass to adjust things every time I get in the car. This means my considerable weight is pressed against the seat back. So I had the seatback repaired and reinforced.

I am replacing my seats with relatively new ones so I will probably use it for an office seat.
Well...I'm currently using the passenger's seat in the driver's side. HIGHLY UNRECOMMENDED. The seat seems to position you further off to the side so you aren't as straight on to the steering wheel as you are used to. I cannot wait to get my driver's side seat back in the car. Going to hit the autowreckers later this week for a new seat pan.
