 I've been there Ollie. You will come to your sences before to long
i go through the same thing every fall/winter.

i realized a couple years back that if i bought something i like alot that im gonna miss it if i sell it. so when i start feeling like this i just leave it alone dont sell it. just persue other things for a little bit.

for instance in the past 4 month i bought 2 dirtbikes and i just bought a brand new honda trx450R today. yea im gonna forget about my crx for a little while but once march comes around i will be getting my crx ready to drive and im gonna enjoy driving it all over again.

This year was mine "time"

But finally, i have buy my second CRX =)

Don't give up man, you have so a nice crx!!!

Alex
Haha I just love ya Mark. Your a no BS kind of guy.
Sorry to shock ya,but I may need the # to a good shrink if I don't change my thought patterns lately. :?
I think you other guys go through this because your CRX's are "projects" (with all the attendant work and headaches) whereas mine is just "my car."
I think you are right about that. I go through this all the time, but if I did, I know I would regret it.
The reason I think about it all the time is because there are so many cars that I would like to own. In a perfect world, I'd keep the CRX and buy whatever else I wanted -- but realistically, I consider selling the CRX just to drive something different. I did it once before with my old CRX...went through some frustrations and wanted to drive something different, so I sold it and went through a couple of other cars before coming back to an Integra (close) and later trading the Teg for a CRX. So, I definitely missed having a CRX. It's a lot like a girlfriend...when you have one, you're checking out other girls, wondering what it would be like...but then when you break up with your girlfriend, you soon realize how good you had it and wish you had her back. Of course, some people can commit -- like Mark :)

There are a number of cars that I'd really like to own...but a lot of them are older cars and/or wouldn't be great daily drivers...so if I want them, I guess I'll need to keep the CRX around and save my pennies.

You are crazy for thinking that. But i can see where your coming from. I on the other hand have other projects going on that get over whelming sometimes, but i always have the CRX to go to to get that frusation out. But still this isn't enough. I have been looking into getting my fourth car because owning three is just to odd. But whenever the Dealer asked me what car im trading in, (them always thinking im trading in the car i drive in, The crx) I tell them none.

What you need to do, Is go out and buy a new toy. Maybe not a car, but something fun that is spent for you. You'll get over this and if you need a shrink, im a great one, Just havent gone to the years of schooling to get it on paper.

One more thing, To help you get over this, try getting her some new shoes. That will always keep you coming back saying i love you and wanting more.
I never could, I could only havea second car. A 2nd or 3rd Gen Z24 cavalier. I love my CRX, its treated me very well even though its had it rough like me at times, but I just LOVE how it drives. I cant ever get enough of it. I have before, when Ive gotin exteremly bored with PC games (my other hobby), Ill get some gas and just take off driving. I once drove to the TN border from wytheville. :rolleyes1:

When Jan comes around Ill be lucky if I CAN get bored between building a new PC and ripping apart the parts car.
i was considering it earlier this year. After my N12 tranny blow out I thought I was done. The crx sat in my back yard for a few months with no tranny. I bought a new one and it grinds 3rd gear :? I had a hesitastion I couldnt fix etc...Anyway I got the little things worked and started driving it again ( mainly because I sold my truck and had nothing else to drive) and cant get enough. Now its sitting at a body shop awaiting its fate.

My advice, if you think you want to sell, wait a month before you do it
You are crazy, call the shrink.
I sometimes lose interest in my car if I haven't done anything to it in a while. Go look for some cheap mods and make it a minor weekend project. Even the smallest changes, or just a tune-up will renew my CRX love.

I second that. . . I get bored with stuff really quickly. . . . heck I am trying to sell my Delsol now. . . Its not perfect. but it is a nice car. . . I could never replace it for what I am asking. . . I just want something different. .

Im going to list it for another week and then I am just going to go out and buy some neat little doo dad for it. . . a new cool part or accessory is usually all it takes sometimes to snap me back to my senses. . . Might start rounding parts up for a turbo setup.. . or do a mini me swap on it.. .
or a factory wing. . or some rare jdm goodie. . .
I agree with the 2 previous posts. Its deffinitely buying and installing new parts that keeps me loving the my crx. Also planning and changing plans for the future of the rex.
I also feel that its much cheaper than buying a car that I want. If I were to buy a car now, it would be a year 2000+ $10000+ car. Even with some parts here and there and regular maintenance, the crx is very cheap. (but my car is pretty much stock, no swaps or expensive turbos)

yess... thats what i'm sayin!
Man, that's totally the opposite of my problem. I'm constantly questioning my sanity because I'm always wanting to buy *another* CRX. I've recently started inquiring about renting a storage unit for my extra car and extra CRX parts. When I finally buy a house, it has to have a shop/utility building in which I can park at least 5 or 6 CRX's. LOL

lol.. i wish i had that ability!... i got in serious trouble for owning 2 cars (due to space issues... in our 2 car garage/4 car driveway......)

i love my dad... i hate the fact that he won't let me work on my car in my garage... but i don't blame him. This is his house, he bought it, he deserves to say what he pleases about it.

Long story short, i would have that kind of love and passion... and own MANY Crx's, of alll different colors and trims! i can't believe i love a car so much...

but its true about little things renewing a passion... its not that it reignites the flame, just keeps it burning...

Are you guys on crack?
How do you "lose interest" in a CRX?
For me, it's about loving a number of other cars too. I'd love to own (and these are cars I could realistically afford, not dream cars) a classic Mustang (64.5-68, that is), a Porsche 944, a 300ZX, a 67-72 Chevy pickup (as a second vehicle/beater), and a ton of other cars. When I sold my first CRX it was because I had picked up a first gen as a daily just to try that out, as well as to buy a 1G DSM (Eagle Talon, in this case) because I wanted to drive a turbocharged AWD car just for kicks...and when you're not loaded, wanting to own a different car means selling the one you've got. It does make you realize how much you love the CRX if you miss driving one when you own something and pick up another one.

A lot of people here also love to work on their cars...and there always comes a point where you've done most of the things you want and can afford to do to a car, and a lot of people then feel the urge to start with a clean slate, to start modifying a car all over again from the ground up, and it's fun to do that with a different model of car, just to learn everything about it. It's the thrill of having something new and different and adding your own touches to it. I don't lose interest in CRXs as a whole, but I lose interest in MY CRX from time to time -- not as transportation, but as a project. It's kind like classic car and street rod guys -- they'll spend TONS of time building a car, finish it, sell it without making an profit (or taking a loss, a lot of the time), and buy another heap of junk so they can do it all over again. It's the car as a hobby and a project that it's easy to lose interest in, not as transportation.

Ollie, alot of us go through the "I want something different" phase. We're "car guys" so of course we want the latest in car technology. Hey, things like power windows and locks, cupholders, etc. would be nice. It's hard not to be distracted when you're friends are buying M3's, the latest Z's, or S2000's. They're all nice cars...

I've gone through this twice....I've come as close as leaving a dealership telling them "I need to think about it" (of course the biggest reason I changed my mind was seeing the fifteen mechanics that were surrounding my CRX, climbing in and out of it, when it was sitting in the coming in on trade parking spot). The first time I came close was on a Toyota Tundra 4x4. Don't ask...The next time was on a Acura RSX S. I looked at and drove both, actually sat down in the salesmen cubicles, but left after asking the question "Is this thing really going to be that mcuh more fun than my CRX?".

Here's what I finally realized - Want to make a "car guy" cry? Ask him about that one car he wishes he'd never sold. My uncle (a tough Vietnam vet) gets visibly upset if you ask him about the Sunbeam Tiger he sold in the late seventies. Sure he wanted to get rid of it at the time to get that "Smokey and the Bandit" TA but now realizes what collosal mistake it was. That's what my CRX is to me........
