I need to buy a new heater blower assembly for my 89 Si. I found one from an 88 HF. When I looked at slhonda.com the number for an 89 Si is 79300-SH2-G02 while the 88 HF is 79300-SH2-A22. However, all the subcomponent part numbers are the same, the pictures look the same, and the Helms does not have a separate section for the HF vs. Si blower replacement.

Do you think they are the same? Do you think the last three digits are just a model code?

Oh, and is it easier to replace just the motor or the entire assembly?

Depends if you have A/C or not. To take out the entire blower, you need to either remove the evaporator/connector duct, or remove the dashboard (at least I think you can with the dash out).
I've read that you can get just the motor out if you cut away a chunk of the blower intake screen, reach in and undo the nut that holds the blower wheel on the motor shaft. With the wheel still attached, there's not enough clearance under the blower to remove the motor.
