ive got a 89 crx si and the temperature control knob is stuck. I took the button off and tried turning it with a pliers and it turns like 1/4 way and then sticks. Any ideas on how to fix this without taking the dash apart?

well there is really no way to investigate the problem without getting in there and seeing if something is loose, or one of the levers broke, or what may have happened. There are two cables connected to the climate control temp adjuster, and plenty of plastic. If something came loose or broke, you'll need to take it apart anyhow.

Is your climate control cracked? When I repaired mine it looked to be in good shape at first, but once it was out I found more and more damage as I looked it over. Many times the temp adjust assembly comes loose from the larger portion of the climate control (it is only held on by two screws, accessed from the back side) and that can bind it up enough to make it not move all the way.

Pop the center console cover out, unscrew the climate control, and look at it, you can always stop there and reassemble in minutes if you don't need to go further.

I had the same thing happen to mine as well. It is difficult to explain, but in short there is a spiral shaped track or groove in the knob assembly that pushes/pulls the cable for the heater when you spin the knob... take it all apart outside of the dash, and you'll see what I mean. I tightened up a screw, readjusted the lever, and greased the track. Although fixing this takes some time, it is worth it for a functioning heater!
