I was looking for new wheels and tires for the 90 Accord Coupe I just bought. Stock it has 205/60/15. I want to go up to 16 or 17" wheels but I want the diameter to be the same. But I don't want 1 inch of rubber on the road. :? So what choices do I have? And if it any one has any pics that would help.

That means your tire diameter is 627 mm.

Following are tire sizes and overal diameter that I punched up with a handheld calculator. Staying within 20mm either way of stock should only change your speedo by 1 or 2mph at 60mph.

205/50/16 = 611 mm

215/45/16 = 599 mm

215/50/16 = 621 mm

205/50/17 = 636 mm

215/45/17 = 625 mm

215/50/17 = 646 mm

I'm not sure if these sizes are even available, they are just sizes I imagined up. If you want me to punch up numbers for a specific tire you want, just post the size.

If you want bigger wheels, but don't want low profile tires on your ride, go with a plus one size. In this case from a 15 up to a 16" wheel. Anymore than that and you'll be having to go with a low profile series tire. Also this will result in a harsher (and possibly louder) ride and you'll have to watch for potholes even more since your rim will be closer to the road.

I'll have to dig around a bit and see if I can find a pic of my '90 Accord Wagon on 16s... They looked good, but there was a bit of a rubbing problem on the rear (215-45/16 tires), so I had to roll the fenders a bit to get them to clear.
