I tried to pop the hood on my car today to examine a few belts. When I pulled the lever beneath the steering wheel, I didn't hear the customary clicking sound, and the hood wouldn't budge. Is there a way to open the hood without using the hood release lever?

Walk around in front of the door (with the door still open). Reach down and pull on the cable....then slap the hood of your car right over the hood release mechanism. This usually works for me. Adjust and grease the mechanism and then try again... if you can't get it to work again, it's likely that your hood release cable is stretched. If so, buy a new one and replace it soon. The hood slapping trick doesn't last forever.

I agree with Stickershop... mine does the samething since i replaced the hood the latch is not adjusted perfectly and the cable is a little stretched.. I would reccoment pressing down ( or having a helper do it ) ont he front center of the hood while you pull the cable. .
once you get in there. lube everything up real well and look into getting the problem fixed. .
