How did you find this place?

We've been trying to put together a strategy for how to bring new people to this site. We've been up for a little less than 3 months, and have just under 80 people. Not too bad.

So anyway, I'm curious, how did you find this place? A friend? A post on another board? Search engine?

Also, do you have any fresh ideas about how to reach more people?

Dude...you emailed me directly :D I've emailed as many of my close contacts as possible to get them over here.

You probably don't want things to grow too quickly anyways. I think our steady growth has been good so far. We just need to keep letting our close contacts know about this site. I made a new CRX friend the other day (lives just down the street), and I let him know about the site...so he should be logging on sometime soon.
I found this site from a post you made on the resource and had mentioned it, right before it got canned.
Heard about this site from a friend (who heard about it from stickershop, I think.)

Seems like a good founding group here so far, but would not have heard about this otherwise ... which would be a shame. I had given up on the other CRX community sites years ago due to the signal:noise ratios, infighting, boy-racer-gangsta attitudes and general punk-ass behaviour. I'm not looking for a whitewashed Disneyland atmosphere, but people just need to give it a rest sometimes and otherwise separate their egos from their rolling stock.

Ideas to spread the word? Stickers are good, T-shirts to wear to meets are good, but reaching other CRX owners who have either given up on online communities (formerly me) or who don't realize they even exist (most of the CRX drivers I see in my hometown on a daily basis) -- is a challenge. Busting the boy-racer image is going to be a part of reaching these people.

I don't think this is a new idea, but providing an easily-printed flyer or business card for members to carry a few copies of for slipping under wipers might be an effective guerrilla-level tactic.

Other than that, promoting the community by including it in your signature on other boards you participate in and not being a dick on those boards or turning it into a turf war.

I don't want this to be an exclusive community, but like stickershop said, steady growth is probably good -- focus on developing a solid, positive core member group that will help set the right tone before the membership takes off.

I got a link off of another site, Not sure which site it was... and i also got a bunch of e mails from other people on other sites about the new place...
I thyink I heard about it off of cloudpumps site nto sure though but I am glad that I am here. .

Chris
you PM'd me on the resource. and so did stickershop if i remember right!! or it was the other way around. i can't remember  !!
We are working on a "business card" type thing.

And I agree, steady growth is good. I don't want this place to balloon out of control. But we need a solid core to keep it alive. I was afraid about a month ago when we only had about 1 post per day, that all that hard work we put into getting the site running was for nothing. I thought people were leaving and dropping like flies, all because nobody else was posting. The more people we have posting, the more "alive" the site will seem, and the more people will come back every day.
The site is still relitively new, so a few awkward silences are to be expected once in a while. Sometimes we just run out of things to say about our CRXes. Nothing to be alarmed about though, we just need an ice-breaking topic or two to keep the conversation going.

As far as getting more people in here, well I agree with you guys about focusing on building a strong core group for now. Once that is established, we won't have to worry about "signal:noise ratios, infighting, boy-racer-gangsta attitudes and general punk-ass behaviou" deluting our community. Nicer neighborhoods have lower crime rates because they make the criminals/scumbags feel uncomfortable. In that same way I think our proper enlgish and civil discourse will scare the unwanted boy-racer-gagstas back to Honda-Tech.

....and yes, I am still working on some Community calling cards, I swear! Time owns me.
I found it by the crx resource posting or the crxohio post, whatever one it was.... I think daveb said something about this place on crxohio.

Anyways what about the hatch community. I have a crx now but I plan on ditching it due to rust/rot. I have a 90 civic hatch that I am slowly getting up to shape. So is this site going to include the hatch community as well? I can't really wear a shirt with a crx back corner on it if I have a hatch you know. I don't want to go and be lumped into a civic community, yes I know crx does start with the word civic. It always seems like the crx and hatch people are a bit different from the normal civic types.
I found this site through a link oh CRXHQ.

About the whole Civic/CRX thing...that has been discussed in a another thread already. But it seemed like the general consensus was pretty parallel with what crxfisher had to say:

I don't want to keep anybody from feeling welcome here. In fact, I know at least one of the members here doesn't even own a Honda. But I really think that we need to focus on the CRX. If your car wore a CRX badge anywhere in the world, then this site is for you. I think Civic owners have a plethora of sites to choose from, and although they are more than welcome here, it's not going to be the focus. Otherwise, we would have named it "EF community", or "Civic and CRX Community."

I think we would all agree that the CRX is unique, and CRX owners have a unique bond. I don't want a site that gets over-inflated. So I guess the bottom line is, "focus on the CRX, but everybody's welcome."

Oh, and one last note. I want everybody who reads this to know that if I'm way off base, you can let me know. Don't be shy. Tell me what you think. PM, post, announce it to the world, whatever. I really want feedback. We all should be allowed to say what we really think. I can't stress this enough!
...umm this crazy guy brought up this idea about starting a new crx website....and...we talked about it....and ...he asked me would I join.....and .....umm...oh yeah thats YOU!
Woot! I guess that makes me a founding member?! :D

Glad this site is here tom. YOU ROCK!

yeah I posted it over there. I cant remember how I found this place to tell you the truth but I think it was through a stickershop post somewhere else. It happened at the best time since Steve decided to ban me for no freaking reason and that my friends is the truth. Anyways no complaints I like this site, no drama, everyone gets along and people have answers to questions something the resource was lacking.

Same here.
I found this site through a link on another forum that black_krix_si posted about painting his car.

As far as promoting the site, word of mouth (or keyboard) seems to always be good. The business card/flyer idea at meets is another good one. The stickers are good as well. Actually, I just received mine in the mail late last week! Putting the URL in your sig on other forums is good.

As many have mentioned, steady growth is good. You don't want an inlfux of noobs with questions like What body kit should I get for my stock 1988 CRX HF with loud ricey muffler and loud interior paint? Let the word spread slowly and the quality of the members will remain high.

I felt a presence in the force.

Speaking of Ohio 'Rexers, anyone remmber Mark the Goth? I can't remember his username, but someone made an avatar of him in Goth getup, and it stuck. I think he got married and moved on and got out of CRXs, but he seemed like a good guy. Just wondered if anyone had any news on him, and if he's doing well.

Mike
If memory serves me correctly:
Mark aka donkeykong who got into volkswagons and has a baby girl, Brandon knows him and I think had the most contact with him.
