A bad distributor can drive you nuts, as it frequently masks itself as being a problem somewhere else in the car.

does a bad distributor make car shutter at 2500 rpm? revs fine under 2500 and over. once needle hits 2500 it stutters and backfires...ive replaced almost everything vacuum and fuel related.
