Well I was brain storming to figure out how to get certain little parts and certain odd parts when doing repairs/swaps. Things most people won't sell or ship seperatly. Things dealerships no longer sell, or carry, or require abnormal info to purchase (VIN for a throttle cable bracket).

I was thinking we should have a thread where it's just people giving a list of parts that they need and people can just browse thru it so that the next time they go to the yard or to there parts car or whatever that they can eye out for some stuff that was mentioned and they can pick them up for the people if the people OK the price.

A good example is Dub has asked me a few times to look for certain parts at yard for him and I have done so with little luck. I'm expanding my search area to newer further yards tho. If others knew about the parts they could do likewise for him, kinda help out the community. It's just an idea I'm throwing out there and I wanted to know what other people thought. I realise we have a for sale and wanted to buy section, but honestly, who will make a wanted to buy for a throttle cable bracket? Know what I mean.

I'm all over this idea. Would help out a lot, but just don't know how to incorporate it without it getting too messy. I, for one, support the notion.

The only way I could see to do it is if every person is only allowed one posting in reply to the parts thread. They can edit that post based on what they still need and remove things that they've gotten already. but it might be a pain if there are like 50 posts of random stuff. And what does one do when multiple people are requesting the same part?

I'd definitely support the notion.

Two ideas:

First, get a MS Access database setup, or something similar that was free (not too familiar with database software) and have people individually add in parts to a larger parts list. You could have a parts listed and parts wanted sub section for each, with descriptions / price of, etc.

The first problem I'm thinking of is server space. The second is the software used for such a database. It would still be an excellent tool to develop for widespread communal parts interchange. I know I have a hell of a time finding and getting rid of some things (anyone want a DPFI airbox?).

I think it is a good idea as well. It sounds like you guys are **** out of luck when it comes to crx parts. I am lucky and I have a junkyard about 45 minutes away that only deals with 88-91 crxs, and 88-96 civics. Also in the Des Moines metro area, there are tons of junkyards with crxs in them, so I could help you all out if you needed anything.

Thats definitely a good idea.

I enjoy going to the yards, but in the winter, its a PITA trying to dig out a car to find out that the part was removed before the foot of snow came. Then in the summer, I have little time to make it to the yard, especially considering the one I usually hit is 25 minutes out of the city, and closes at 5.

I've been to 4 wrecking yards and have yet to find a 90-93 integra. I need a throttle cable and bracket, and a spare bracket for Dub. I can't find one. The only place I know there is one wants about 100$ for the cable and about 30$ per bracket...Ya...right. I'm stealing it haha. Bud it's good to see people like the idea. I'm tired of always being poop out of luck with certain specific parts.

And I would make it multi car orientated. We all have other cars and most of them need repairing once in a while. I've gone to the yard for my throttle cable only to come out with accord parts, or cavalier water necks lol. If there is a request for a part we should do our best to find it.

google services has a free word processing online app with spreadsheet that can be shared in a group. I believe this would work. I do not know if they are still requiring invites, but if anyone needs PM me and I will send one out.
