But what would it take to raise one about an inch, without putting on taller tires?

It is so low to the ground It would just make it easier to get in and out of.

I am 6' 3" and it is a long way down there, if you know what I mean!

You gotta ask yourself if the car being one INCH taller is really going to make enough of a difference to offset:

1. The cost of parts to raise the car.
2. The effort of doing the work to raise the car.
3. The possible impact that raising the car will have on handling (not sure).
4. The obvious impact that raising the car will have on the appearance of the car (ack, a stock ride height CRX looks "off-road" enough when you get used to a lowered one. One that's actually been lifted like a 4x4 is going to draw a lot of attention, and not in a good way.

I hate to say it, but if the car is that uncomfortable for you to get in and out of, maybe you should look into something that's more comfortable for you. I really doubt if an inch will make much of a difference...at least not enough to offset the above points. I'm only about 6 feet tall, but I have some knee problems and getting out of the car can be very uncomfortable sometimes...but I just deal with it. When I get home from work, the hour of high-speed driving that I just did more than makes up for a little pain getting out.

Actually, I put on taller tires and I like the ride ALOT more. The wheels visually fill the wheel well better, and I don't have the problem of bottoming out on steep dips in the road that SoCal has in abundance.

I use 195/70 r14, which give me a tire diameter of just under 25", compared to the stock height of just over 22". There is your extra inch.

Sumitomo HTR 200 come in this size, BTW.

Ive raised CRXs 2 different ways. One way was by putting on 18" wheels with a 235/45/18 tire. This raised the car about 2". You could also accomplish this by using a 195/80/14 tire on a stock alloy wheel.

The other way was by using DC integra stock springs, this was ona civic hatch, but very similair idea. We had a problem with + camber in the front and back , but were able to fix this with camber kits and a good alignment. Once we added 15" steeleis and ice tires we used this for deliveries in the winter at a performance parts shop I worked at. This raised the car almost 2" as well..

Imagine if i did both at once!

heres a pic of the CRX on 18;s

for reference, thats a stock height civic hatch behind it and a stock height impreza 2.5RS beside it.

heres the same car lowered almost 2" from stock height

and lowered 4" plus from stock height
