I am installing my 1st amp and I am lost.

My amp, a 400 watt visonic, has a "high input"" socket and low input" RCA plugs. The RCA has a R,and L plug but no neg. side only the input.

I believe I need to use the high input socket for the speaker wires from my Head unit to the amp. but where can you get a plug for the socket.

It is a 6 poll socket with 4 square holes and 2 rounds ones.

Do I use the RCA low input plugs or the high input socket?

Any Ideas?

TIA

Can you get a picture? I've seen a fair number of amps but I'm not following you on that "6 poll socket"

The RCA plugs are for pre-outs from your head unit. Look on the back to see if your deck has RCA pre-outs. If not, you'll have to use speaker-level inputs. High and low inputs is probably referring to frequency, ie. low input is for a subwoofer. How many channels is this amp?

high z in and low in

the plug should of came with the amp, or it might be an option. If you have a factory deck you have yo use it. If u have a aftermarket deck go buy some rca cable and run them from your deck to the rca imput(R/B)

the problem with ther high z and a stock deck is that if you crank the deck up you can end up making you amp put out DC into the sub and fry it.

use the rca with a deck you will be way better off

I just want to power my front speakers!

How to use the RCA plugs?

It has a red plug for the right side and a white left side but NO neg.

I will pull the HU today to see it it has any RCA out puts.

Thanks again

Do you have an aftermarket headunit or is it a stock unit?

If it is any sort of decent aftermarket unit, it should have at least one set of RCA's(usually red and white.)

If it does, simply run and hook up your RCA's from the amp to RCA's in the back of the deck. Then connect your front speaker wires from the speakers to the amp.
Check all of your other connections make sure they are good to go, you should have juice to them.
