You can. But it will peel off in time.
Besides...it will get really annoying really fast.

Not all the time.
I needed front speaker grilles and found some from an Hf. They were blue but in nearly perfect shape. I scuffed them up and painted them with Krylon Semi Flat black paint. Came out looking stock, dries fast, no runs, completely coverered and have not peeled yet.

True. But the speaker covers aren't in the bright hot sun.
