I have a newbie question...

Is there a list of which ECUs will work with which engines for all civics?

I've got 2 D15 motors with ridiculously low compression and want to replace the one in my car as opposed to rebuild. Can I drop in any D motor and have it run or would I need a matching computer?

Ideally I'd like to drop in an HF motor for better mileage.

thanks!

I've got an 88 crx with a 5speed manual, I don't remeber what motor is in it as it is at the shop getting a fuel pump changed.

The other motor is a D15B2 16 valve. I can get a D15B7 motor with 50K on it for $550 in town, will that work on my current ecu? (Obviously I'd have to leave out the MPFI bits and stick with the throttle body injection)

thanks,

The engine itself does not really matter..
The ECU is matched to the intake manifold and distributor set-up..

You can put a d15b2/d15b7/d16a6 in it with the same intake manifold
exhaust transmission etc.and go on down the road..

Or you can convert the DPFI throttle body to MPFI also..

Really there are lots of options as most of the parts are
somewhat interchangable.

the computers are very easy and for the most part cheap to come by.... you can change the computer in about 10 minutes... this will be the least of your worries.... you could drop in mostly any d series engine for the most part and use your stock computer as long as you keep your intake manifold setup and distributer....
the other computer that you seem to be talking about is for the multi port fuel injection that the si and the hf have.... they require a different computer distro and intake setup....

read up on multi port fuel injectrion swapping.. . . and it will clue you in real good as to what you are up against. .

Chris

welcome to the board.. . . :):):)

How about just the HF head? I found one in the bone yard last month, may see if they still have it. Are these cars made out of legos? ;)

yep, Hondas are Legos, lol. Want a rear brake upgrade? Look for a 90-91 CRX si, later Civic, or even an Integra. The same can be said with sway bars and a variety of other parts.
