"JDM/EDM Bug"...

8215 Views 26 Replies 17 Participants Last post by  Pag
Man, if this isn't worse than a crack habit, i don't know what is...

Recently i've been bitten by a bug. That bug is to have a CRX that is outfitted with 'accessories'... meaning basically, everything that the U.S. model did not get.

Power mirrors, power door locks and windows, power SiR headlights, jdm map light, auto 'aircon' jdm a/c system, power steering, etc...

I don't know where this sudden desire came from... in the past, i could care less... i always thought that someone spending that kind of money on parts that don't matter much was insane... but now i feed off of it.. i am on eBay constantly searching down the next power accessory to buy. Constantly trying to find new things that will make owning and driving my next CRX a much more pleasant experience.

I caution everyone out there... stay AWAY from the JDM/EDM bug.... its a nightmare. If you ever want to keep your money, duck and cover!

I've quit smoking cold-turkey and never looked back... i have will power... and this is killing me!

Man...I have enough trouble with my USDM accessories bug... I can't imagine how messed up my finances would be if I let myself catch the JDM/EDM bug too. LOL
qare you the one that stole the ap light from me on ebay?>
I am fortunate enough to have not caught the JDM accesory bug....

But only because my JDM SiR came with everything! Muahahahah!
Stickershop: Hey man, yea, the USDM bug is nice... thankfully everything is here, and cheap.. lol. But the EDM/JDM bug sucks... i just bought a complete set of headlights JUST to get the box that is attached to them that adjusts the lights.. ::sigh:: , this sucks. Oh well, at least now i have something that i consider pretty rare because i've not seen it very much: my headlights are the glass Stanleys, and as of about 30 mnutes ago also have the power up/down option on them... i have no idea why i wanted that feature, i have no use for adjusting my headlights while i'm driving... <shrug>

Shadowcrx: Nah, that wasn't me... i bought my maplight from a private party (although i think he did have them listed on ebay, and ended the auction early.. hehe).

baker: Its all good... you can keep the SiR (I can't believe i just said that)... i don't want to destroy an SiR doing what i am doing to this CRX.... besides, i don't want RHD, nor the glass roof. In Florida, i know exactly what a 'Florida Room' is... it is a room that stays bright and warm year-round pretty much... aka, a greenhouse. What do a Florida Room, a Greenhouse, and the CRX SiR have in common? Yep, you guessed it, glass roofs... hehe  In Florida, that glass roof will only mean more work for my a/c system... I don't even want a sunroof.... so, i now have an Si without a sunroof in it. It'll also be getting some heat-blocking materials layed over it to cool things down inside, and add weight and silence to the car :)

There is something even worse than your addiction.... An addiction to making a 1st Gen CRX go fast. The parts exist but they were rare back in the day and seem to be made of unobtainium today. 1st Gen people are reduced to fabricating their parts.

Scott
Yes.. one day, i will build this:

But it'll have a K in it of course... hehe.

That is my dream 1st Gen.

Yeah, I want to know too. I've never heard of them before.
I remember a while back on the Resource someone was selling "the Ultimate First Gen". As I recall, it had a turbo B16A and half the mugen factory under the hood. So there is ONE fast first gen.
the ultimate first gen crx is owned by "bryman" and was built by none other then our very own Composimo!

and yes that thing is bad ass!

hey john.. you been to passwordjdm yet???

They are not JDM or SiR...They come from Europe on the VT models depending on the country. What it is, is the inside of the light adjusts up and down with a switch depending if you want it down for the city and full up for country roads...I had a pair I just sold for $500 shipped...
Don't forget to buy an ITR steering wheel too! Even has the nifty red H. Also the double DIN stereo surround makes a good "stock" looking place for essential guages. I reccomend VDO guages for the OEM look!

Thanks for the info and...wow that's a lotta bones for some lights!
I also have the dim/dip headlights from Europe but from the 16v-1.6i model.
Gator... thanks for answering.

Ragna: Yea, in this case, i bought a set of EDM SiR headlights. Unknowingly, i bought a set of lights that have the bolt pattern and hookup ready to go for the power up/down feature.... i thought this was kinda cool, so i found antoher set of the VT lights that would fit the USDM front end with the power up/down stuff attached, and bought them, so that i could strip them of the power stuff, and install them on the SiR lights... so yea, i'll have a set of glass stanley lights for sale shortly that fit usdm fronts, and that adjust internally rather than the regular usdm way, and also, they don't have the little glass-nipples on the front of them... hehe.

Sneak/Downest: Yea, i know that car aaaaaallllllll too well... hehe. It was definitely a fun project, and one thatr i will likely not reproduce anytime soon. However, i'm getting close with my own personal project here. heh. Downest, also, add that it has a/c shoved in there as well to the lidt of stuff done to it. hehe. Sneak: Yea, i've been there...... haven't bought anything 'yet'... hehe.

azulito: Yea, i gotta figure out what i'm doing for a steering wheel. For some reason an old school Nardi wheel is catching my eye... lol. Maybe do the Nardi wheel, but remove the wood, and re-do it in CF... hmmmm... old school with new school flava!

Now..... the question is....... what the HELL do i need a bumper pole light thingy for? the addiction continues :(

Oh, thank goodness, no... lol.

I actually pretty much have everything that i'm wanting for my car. There is a lot of various stuff out there, but i really don't need any of it (not that i need that bumper pole either, but i thought it'd look cool)... However, the ONE high-dollar item i'm still looking for..... the German LHD SiR dash with black leather to match the door panels.

If anyone knows where a perfect one is, shoot me a PM with info and $ figure 8)
I have to form an intervention here. You don't need a EDM dash to match the panels. That top part of the dash can be upholstered or painted to match. The guages of course can be bought and installed. I never heard of someone getting the dash from an EDM CRX shipped here...but if you must you may be taken to rehab!
It's all about "being original".... hehe!

Dunno, something about having the -actual- dash rather than a re-covered piece intruiges me

I WILL NOT BE DE-EDM'd!!! Bwah ha ha ha haahaaaaa!!!
