Lug nuts and hub rings for my Volks. Want something functional and strong without breaking the bank.

Also, whats the deal with lug nut tapers?

Make sure you get the right taper.
Either straight, or conical shaped. (round)
Simple way to find out....look at the wheel :lol:

Hubcentric rings are rarely needed. If you torque the wheel properly that should be fine.

I don't mean to start an argument here, but I have found quite the oposite when using aftermarket wheels. In fact, I make my own hub centric rings on a lathe and it does make a huge difference.

ya, i'm a mechanical engineer myself, and its true that having the hub as a pilot provides a much more precisely concentric wheel alignment on the hub.

can anyone recommend good brands and suppliers?

If you have decent lugnuts, you shouldn't have a problem.

I have had almost a dozen sets of wheels, and have not yet had any issues with vibrations. But if you want to put the wheels on the quickie way I can see how it can be a problem.
