ALright guys n gals (are there any women on here?) I accepted an opportunity within my company to work on projects all over the world out of our office in Doncaster, England for about 2 yrs starting on the 1st of February. I will be storing my infamous Pink CRX here at my mom's house.

I may be interested in locating a crx once I get to England. I'm not sure how much money my company will be giving me to buy a car once i get there, but I suspect it will be enough to purchase a crx in good condition. I'm not too familiar with the various EDM models of crx. SOmething about a VT and a STD or something? What sthe diff, and what would I look for? Where would I go to find crxs for sale? Can anyone in the UK help me out?

Thanks guys. if worst comes to worst, I'll be back on the scene in 24 months.

It would be fairly easy importing a Left hand drive crx from europe into the UK.
Remember, that the UK is not europe!

You'd be the only one sitting on the wrong side. Imagine that, being just as cool as the JDM posers over there! And none of the embarassment when you take it back home.

Expect to pay between 5 and 7K for a nice one.

Congrats! Forget the VT go for a clean siR EF8 (Jap import), apart from the leather interior in the VT, the siR has a lot more going for it including the following standard/optional items it came with over the VT.......

Glass roof (optional)
Climate control/AC (although a few UK VT's had the AC fitted - quite rare)
Power Steering (standard)
LSD (optional)

Also the Jap imports are less likely to have rust, in fact most don't, where as most UK CRX's do

Whilst in the UK and all things CRX related, your home away from home is.....

Power steering sucks. ABS is even worse on those cars.
Also the JDM cars are alot harder to import into the USA than EDM ones.
I would have agreed with you on the PS, I used to own a MK1 CRX which did not have PS and I loved it, however the PS on the siR is spot on IMHO not light like a lot of other cars. Have you driven an siR with PS?

A few of my frieds who have moved on from VT's to siR's used to have the same opinion as you, but now love the feel of the power steering of the siR.

ABS sucks in the snow/ice, and I don't claim to be a great driver, so for me the ABS comes in handy.

Fair point on the import issue, but is he looking to import it back?

If the PS on the SiR is different from the VT, I reserve my opinon.
But I -hate-hate-hate-hate- the PS on the VT with a passion.
It feels sloppy, absent, mushy and vague at any speed above 30 Mph.
The ABS on the older honda's as found on the CRX is terrible. I would almost go as far as they made braking worse, if it weren't for really poor drivers who thing brakes only go on, or off.

I even hate the PS on the 5th gen civics. It's a bit better on the 6th gen civics, where honda solved alot of the problems and made the PS speed dependant.
Same with the ABS, wich is only good (maybe even great) from the 98 civic's and type-R integra's and up.

Hmmm, I suppose it would be cool to ship my car there, and then ship it back when I come back. I'm not sure what exactly my company will be willing to do for me. I suspect they'll tell me how much I can spend and I'll handle the rest. However, it might work out better for me to buy a *new* EDM crx there and then have it shipped back with me when I come.

I was also thinking an old mini would be cool...

Angry, I will be consulting and doing project management in the manufacturing and packaging industry. My company, Barry-Wehmiller Design Group, acquired CBI in Doncaster a couple yrs ago, and so I will be a project manager there and helping put into place a better engineering and managing team. The cool thing about it is that CBI does international work, so I'll be all over the world.

Hmmm, looked at that UK website. Looks like I'll probably stick with a crx. There seem to be plenty available.
